Stats are for the coaches and managers to look at. Or if just analysing stats is what someone enjoys, good for them. Not me. I only really care about watching an entertaining team with some players I can happily cheer for that provide fun when I watch. I feel like the arguments for this team being decent based on stats is analogous to someone convincing me to watch a movie because of the models of cameras it was shot with, their grade of film, length of boom etc... Those things are no basis for interest if the entertainment product itself isn't entertaining.
With GG coaching, I find myself much less interested in watching games. I even find my enthusiasm for individual players on the team has gone down. And when the Flames do win, I rarely feel like it was a thrilling or exciting game that I had fun watching. More like it's just another output of the mechanical process going on every day with that group.

The win is all I care about. Entertaining hockey is a nice bonus but I just want to see wins. Having a bad team that plays entertaining hockey isn't a consolation to me. Unfortunately we have a boring team that doesn't win a lot.
I sometimes wonder how much the players complaining about Hartley impacted the hiring of Gulutzan. Maybe Treliving didn't want to hire another hard ass so he tried to bring in a "players coach". Either way I think that experiment has failed and someone with a bit more of an authoritative presence needs to step in. Also someone who can adapt.

Gully is coaching for his career at this point. No way he survives a season where this team goes 0 for the Oilers again and misses the playoffs.

Yeah Johnny's right. It's not just the losing, it's the style he has them playing. This team has way too much exciting talent to sit through this garbage. Enough with the analytics, I just want to be entertained.
GG seems like a decent enough guy, I used to defend him. But I don't want to watch this boring brand of hockey anymore, especially if they're going to play like this. At least win, if you're going to bore us. This isn't fun at all

Gotta give him some credit. He finally asked how to start a game, and finally beat the Oilers.

IF Gulitzan is fired and that is a big if, who is available to take over?
Lindy Ruff? Sutter?
If Quinville got fired, would he even want to come to Calgary?

Gulitzan is an issue, but it is not his fault that Treliving has given him no secondary scoring.

Possibly AV, Bary Trotz, JQ.
Who knows until the end of the season, but I would take any of those guys.

Lots of candidates are going to be available.
AV is most likely hitting the market
Joe Quenneville is a possibility (Hawks would be dumb)
Trotz if caps are eliminated quick
Todd Mclellan is rumoured to be let go
Tortorella could be another one available this summer
Sutter
Tippett
Ruff

Why wouldn't he want to come? Despite the issue with the loss of the draft picks I would still say Calgary is an up and coming team.

Most likely will be a bidding war for him. Teams that will look at him if he becomes available? Flames, Sabres, Canes, Oilers, Arizona, Wings, Rangers, Islanders, and more.

Oilers are stuck with TMac for a while I think. He's got several years left. At a big chunk of money.
JQ will be looking for $5-6M and 5 years I bet. I also think that a NY team will have the inside track. NYI will be looking at POs next year. NYR will be looking to replace a high quality coach with another.

Rumours of Paul Coffey being the next HC. I still think Katz is fine paying TMac not coaching the Oilers and bringing in one of his old boys in Paul Coffey. But true JQ is going to be looking at a boatload of cash I can't see Katz paying Tmac and JQ a combined of 10M plus.

Definitely off the cuff and tounge in cheek, but it was interesting on the Fan this morning to hear Pinder alluding to the Flames having a press conference today if they had lost to the Oilers. While they left the statement open ended and joked around the outside, this is the closest I have seen any media member suggest how precarious GGs job is at the moment.

The "starting the game" thing is such hogwash. First, the Flames have started plenty of games at home well, in both their wins and losses. Second, the Flames typically start games on the road very well. In those examples, was GG not coaching?
The Flames have generally played badly against Edmonton, but at least two of their losses were really close games that went to extra time (one in each year), and I'm not even counting the near comeback in the 7-5 game. I think this game might have been a change in that regard, simply because of the way it happened.

I'm happy we won, but I just don't like the way the Flames played against the Oilers in the third. We had a 1-0 lead and we completely stopped forecheckeing that dumpster fire of a defence. We invited McDavid to play half the third period and just rush up the ice as much as he wants.
McDavid looks all world against the Flames because GG refuses to adjust to the Oilers. There is a reason they are bottom 5 in the league but seem to have our number.
