I was both terrified and embarrassed of our bottom six going in but they blew me out of the water tonight with their play.

Shore is a good depth player.

Stajan is all heart. Stewart was decent.

I didn't think Iginla was a great leader in the second half of his time in Calgary.
So maybe that's what you are talking about?
Debate for a different time probably.

Stajan had more good plays than just the last minute block. The fourth line hemmed the Oilers in their end on a few occasions and Stajan in particular created a couple of scoring chances.

We need an AC gif of all 6 Flames engulfing McDavid when he went poking Smith. Seriously, Kassian just loafed on over while he was being dogpiled on, it was glorious.

Then when he gets there, Smitty just cuts him off and says nah you good right where you are.

Yeah, I have to say that I liked the way Shore played. He was a good addition to the bottom six moving forward. Especially since him and Brouwer played so well together.

I wonder what the NHL record is for least empty net goals in a year. Flames still only have 1 right?

Smith with three shutouts this season (so far): At Anaheim - first win there in forever; vs Arizona - first game against his former team; tonight - suck it, Oil.

Clutch.

I suspect the Corsi results won't be as good as the last game, a loss. Go figure.

Hopefully Coyotes hang on tonight.

I am trying not to look at the OOT scoreboard because Flames still need to take care of their own business. But if Sharks, Kings and Ducks all lose their next game, and Flames win Friday against Sharks.... Well shoot, they almost become the team to beat out of that group.

And Stajan hammering McD and then taking a fly by on Nugent Hopkins along with Gio. Kassian impotent on the play, as he was on the ice and saw it all. Maybe Stewart has him spooked.

That’s the kind of heart and soul and grit that gets the rest of the team fire up.
Hamonic with a fight and as physical as he’s been all year all game.

With that loss. The Flames I think officially eliminated the oilers from playoff contention.

Great team effort and win. 110% commitment. Now to become a coyotes fan for the next 30 mins.

On a personal note, the streak continues, Flames now 4 for 4 while drinking scotch. Had to make an adjustment from Lagavulin to Dalmore in the second. Seemed to do the trick.

The only negative was the pp. The first had plenty of possession but not too many close in chaotic chances. The second was just bad.

8-3-0 gets us in, and that's certainly achievable.

I believe.

The Oilers probably played their best game of the year, and they lost.

Looking at the shot chart (thank you Shaw.

Calgary had 16 shots from between the circles, and 12 of those below the face off dots.

The Oilers had 13 shots in the slot and 11 from below the face off dot.

And you're right the refs were bad, Draisaitl should have been sitting two. The call in the last couple of minutes was a favor to the Oilers as well. The Refs didn't rob the Oilers, that's an excuse and a conspiracy theory that Oiler fans need to stop crying about.

Face it, you have nothing left to cheer for when it comes to the Oilers. And the sad thing is next year is probably going to be worse.
