Default A good slab 'o ribs

Aside from the obvious Tony Roma's. Where do you recommend some good BBQ'd ribs? Beef or Pork - I prefer pork, but whatever.

montana's has some huge portions, easily enough for me. very good, in the same league as tony's for sure. rib tips, apple butter, mmmm...

vlasis on centre street and mcknight used to have AMAZING beef ribs for like $1.50 on certain nights. haven't been since 2002 but it'd be worth a phone call.

it's interesting that there's so many low-quality ribs out there, i guess since it's such a long-term cooking process the way i do them, boiling then bbq'ing. they must use a shortcut in some restaurants.

Earls always seems to come though with good tender ribs. Fall of the bone goodness, on a fairly consistent basis.

I would agree with Montana's. I was just there for my first time last week and the ribs were fabulous (also try the wings they are great)

I will second the Earls vote, they are very good. Tony Roma's did nothing for me but I have yet to try Montana's.

Last 2 times my wife and I tried Montana's it was a disaster. Once there was a hair cooked onto the food (pull the hair, along comes the food). The other time, we were seated. Watched other people be seated, watch those people get served, watch those people get food, and anytime I tried to ask for help I was told "Your sever will be right with you". We left after 45 minutes of sitting.

I will never patronize another Montana's.

Without a doubt, I like Big T's BBQ much better than Montana's or Tony Roma's. I usually go for one of the combo plates which includes ribs.

I'm gonna jump on the Earl's bandwagon. Everytime I've gone they have been great. I could probably eat my weight in them.

Tony Roma's servings are waaay to small.

Usually when people go to eat ribs....they want a full helping and then some.

I would suggest two places.

1) Bookers (Great food all around)
2) Palomino (Great ribs and fantastic food)

That is all.

They all suck. You need to go where BBQ is an art form or at least part of the culture. Oklahoma Joe's in Lenexa, Kansas has great ribs. Also Gates BBQ in Kansas City has great ribs as well. Here in Alberta, I think it is hit and miss. I have had good ribs at places like Tony Roma's or Montana's. But the next time you go they will be dried out. Depends on the cook I guess.

Far and away the best ribs I've had in Calgary were at Original Santa Fe Bar and Grill and their babyback pork ribs.

Mrs. C stole their recipe many years ago and it's a summer barbecue - and winter - staple at our place. Finger dripping good.

If they still have it on the menu that is . . . . we never go there anymore!!!
