I was listening to CJSW a couple days ago and they were talking about Highland Park Golf Course development, and the creek that runs under it. They went into the tunnel, and one guy talked about how they used to bike through it as kids when the water was low. Anyone ever do that, and is the entrance still freely accessible? Might be some fun urban spelunking.

We used to ride our bikes down a runoff tunnel on the north side of Weaselhead.

Then there was the tunnel on the south side of Glenmore park, which you couldn't bike in because it was concrete and had a channel cut out of the bottom. But we'd walk up it pretty far with a flashlight. One time we got to a ladder, my buddy pushed open the manhole at the top, and scared the crap out of himself and the driver on 90th who roared over it. Another time we were exploring in that same tunnel system, this time on mushrooms, when our flashlight died. That same buddy gibbered and roared like a lunatic the entire time we ran back to the tunnel entrance in a drug-maddened panic. He was a pretty weird dude.

At the risk of sounding both old and pervy, back in the day you had to work harder to see a little bit of nudity.

- Staying up late to watching some weird foreign movie on CBC
- Watching the scrambled PPV channel
- Flipping through old Nat Geo mags
- Trying to rent a PG-13 video at "flilckers" in hopes that it would have a little bit of nudity

Nowadays it is all just too easy to come by.

yeah, that's a little different I suppose. I think this is one of those instances where context matters. Like if this guy's driving around in a van and coercing children over and then handing out porn vs. your scenario kinda context.

The French channel was better late at night for possible nudity.

I did. But to be really honest, as I read it, I thought that it sounded like fun. I guess I'm a little old for that now, but 20 years ago, that would have been a pretty epic Saturday night. Complete with the one buddy that seriously trips.

We used to climb on to roofs. Not high roofs, but roofs of shopping plazas, schools, churches, low rise apartment buildings... Never thought about going subterranean. Now I feel like we missed out on some exploring.

There was a hidden tree house in a big pine tree, not far from the south tunnel.

Outdoor water slides. As a kid I loved going to the outdoor slides.

We used to have 2 in Kelowna. Wild’n’Wet was awesome. I remember the river ride was incredible, and the snack shack there had this orange-flavoured soft serve ice cream. It blew my mind cause soft serve only came in vanilla at that time.

Small town Hockey rink concession burgers and fries with gravy. Rink burgers were extra greasy and those fries and gravy were so darn good. When we would be on the road for hockey I always got a rink burger with fries. Amazing.

Smoking used to be cool when I was a kid.

Tattoos also used to be cool, and not in the hipster and housewife way they are today.

Not going to lie. When I was young I would watch a scrambled Superchannel feed for minutes at a time in hopes of catching a few legible frames of a boob.

Who's old enough to remember when you could drive across the reservoir on 14 st?

One lane bridge with light controls at either end that came out (if you were heading S) where the flyover from 14 N turns to Glenmore West.

Best shortcut to the SW part of the city if one had been drinking...when drinking and driving wasn't treated anywhere nearly as serious as it is now.

I remember watching showcase foreign movies on Friday for two boring hours to maybe see something.

Or even better, downloading a single picture on a dial-up model, one line at a time. Think the whole process took about 25 minutes to see Pam Anderson.

Good times.

Is that place closed? That is super disappointing, it was awesome, I was looking forward to taking my kids
