Again, they were never gonna run the table and didn't need to so I don't understand the "playoff are done" narrative.
If we are to get to the playoffs, games like this has to be one. I know we're not technically done, but being unable to win games like this one has plagued the flames all season long and continues to do so.

Another GG system game. Slow transition game that other team already prepared in their own zone to depend and try to shoot throuh all the players and already positioned goaltender. No wonder 50 shots with less danger.

Sure, I understand the odds aren't good but things can change so fast. Look how they did in the last 7 days. Flames were dead and buried after that NYR loss but after 5/6 points, some help on the OOT and they're back in it.

And ANA has one game in hand and a game Vs CGY left. Only two Points up and flames have the tie breaker.

I was hoping they'd win all 3 games vs Ottawa, NYI and Edmonton to have a bit more of a solid footing in the playoff race. The team just doesn't have enough killer instinct. Looking more likely they'll fall short of the playoffs this year.

You are correct, but the Flames gassed a real chance tonight. And the odds just got a lot harder.
ANA, LA AND SJ all play teams in the race meaning all are going to drop points. It's not as if the teams ahead of us are playing nothing but bottom feeders on the back end of backs to backs.

Problem is this team doesn't seem to be able to play better than .500 hockey during crunch time.

It's not mathematically over, sure, but it's getting pretty close.

C’mon, if the season comes down to the last game do you really expect this team to win it? They’ve choked away so many opportunities this year that I would feel like a fool expecting them to come through in the clutch.

Don't know about that. A deathwish is a kind of killer instinct.

We have a couple of games against the Sharks left and one against the Ducks. Win all 3 and we might have a chance.

I know hind sight is 20/20, but I really feel they should have started Rittich in this one. He was on a bit of a roll, and feel he would have been sharper than a Smith first game back in ages.

I think they need to win at least 4 in a row to get themselves in a decent position, considering the games in hand.

Beat the Oilers, and Sharks, and now need a point out of Vegas in the next 7 days. But oot has been good.

If they don't beat the Oilers, fully on board with letting GG go before he puts his street clothes on. And has nothing to do with another playoff hit, it will be because of 8 points he given the toilet franchise in the league this season.

No coach has never not beaten the Oilers in their time here, even Guy Charron who coached he tail end of one season and only 16 games, beat the Oilers.

Sure some will drop points. But Calgary needs all of them to drop points, while they keep (or is it start?) winning.

When you are trying to gain on everyone, and those teams play each other, it's really hard to gain, as someone ahead of you is always getting points.

Calgary has about a 20% chance of making the playoffs. The hard work they did this week in getting 5/6 points and some good results from the OOT scoreboard disappeared with tonight's game.

It is quite frustrating.

No, a game situation is way different than a practice.

This team has laughable finishing ability. Second straight 50 shot game and only 3 goals to show for it while firing nearly 200 shot attempts. Just embarrassing levels of finish considering NYI scored 3 goals on what, like 6 or 7 shots?

Poor coverage at the points and a lack of finish cost us tonight. Just a frustrating team to watch because you can’t even rag on the effort level because it’s there.

With the way games remaining stack up, they needed to win every game till they got back to an even playing ground in terms of GP. Especially at home vs a team on a losing streak, well outside the playoffs, vs a 3rd string goaltender.

Is it over? Technically no, but lets be honest this team has shown they don't have the ability to a) win at home and b) win when it matters.

Big changes need to be made in the off season. If you ask me you let go of both BT and GG, and start addressing the issues up front. They simply aren't good enough offensively.

Flames are not a playoff calibre team right now. Simple as that. Delusional to think otherwise.

Looking forward to off season improvements. Coaching staff will all be gone.

Doubt Treliving gets the axe but who knows.

This was a winnable game. This just means they have to win a game that we would have expected to be a loss.

I'm still of the opinion that 10-4 gets you in. They are 1-1. Only allowed to have 3 more losses.
