FWIW I think Lazar has been pretty good for the last 20 or so games he played in. I think he's definitely got what it takes to be a good 4th liner for a while at the very least. Interested to see what he brings in the playoffs too.

Dallas has to fall a bit yet but Bishop being sidelined could be a way in for the Flames if the Kings and Ducks continue to keep pace.

Yeah, I think Haynes was right saying the way in is through the wildcard.

I'd be interested to see what he could do with an opportunity on a higher line, but with Versteeg returning he's probably going to stay put. Him and Stajan have been solid for a few games. The bottom 6 is legitimately carrying the load right now which is impressive to see.

Concerned about the top line still. The Buffalo game was a shooting gallery, so I don't buy that that one really broke their slump.
Oh, I agree about the consistency. I was just trying to say that Lazar could be an important piece in a 4th line capacity, or possibly 3rd. I've just been really impressed and encouraged by his recent play.

Finally starting to get some bottom 6 scoring and it’s lead to 3 good games and 5 of 6 points. Hopefully it’s not too late though. We definitely could use some help and some favorable OOTs.

Pushed also by the team having some more options in popcorn row now. Glass, Stewart and less so, Shore.

Doesn't this falls on the coaching staff? They need to figure out a system of way to play McDavid properly? Just like back in the 80s, how Bob Johnson figure out how to play Gretzky and his gangs?

Agreed, but I would MUCH rather have Lazar in the lineup over any of those guys.

Johnson's system for dealing with Gretzky was basically to have Carey Wilson and Neil Sheehy take turns hooking, slashing, obstructing, and interfering with him. It worked great in the playoffs in the 80s, when people thought it was a positive sign of virtue for the referees to forget that their whistles existed.

(An Elston cartoon from those days depicts a player standing over a dead opponent, smoking gun in hand, and yelling at the referee that it can't be a penalty because this is overtime.)

Try that now, and you'd be playing two men short most of the time.
