Nope.

For a 4 overall pick , his consistency of play has been a huge disappointment.

He was supposed to be a top six player with some consistent positive impact by now.

Not meeting expectatations of that yet. Not even close.

Flames were fine until they see their goalie let in 2 average goals. Then a third well out of position when there is a 4 on 4 and lots of ice, no need to bite so hard on one guy. My guess is Smith has a pretty good chance on the 4th too.
The Flames spirits went down, though they continued their jump and the refs missed a lot, and Colorado’s confidence went up...so the average or worse goals against caused the momentum shift to a Colorado team that looked as flat as Sunday until Rittich gave them some hope.

Plain and simple, Mike Smith in net these last two games and the Flames have at least 3 points.

All the teams will have some ebs and flows in the final 20 games. Key is ensuring you don't lose in streaks.
Given the number of teams the Flames have to chase down for the final spot, I'm assuming 96 points will be needed to make it in. That's 23 of the available 34 points or .676 hockey the rest of the way. Not quite .700 but close.

Looking at the schedule, yes it is possible, but not with the type of goaltending we've been getting since Smith went down. If he's not back in short order, it's curtains for this team.

Great flip flop!
I’ll do 2:1 at $100 they don’t make it. Even if I lose, I win!

10-4-3.
95 points will get you a better than 50% chance of making the playoffs

If that's what the stats say, the "high danger" stats are not at all accurate. No way by my count did the Flames have more high quality scoring chances than the Avs and it wasn't even close. Rittich needed to find a save in the second but he also held the team in it. He had to face the tougher shots by a mile.

Not sure if I have ever seen a worse call
I was watching the highlights after the game on SN, and the guys were completely dumbfounded by that call, saying they didn't blame Johnny at all for being angry and chirping the ref.

Are we really going to have another Bennett debate tonight? There is lots of blame but tonight he really wouldn’t be the guy to point the finger at. Can we discuss the game at hand in this thread? Jeez

It's not a flip flop. It's about making a smart bet when there's money on the line.

Do i think the flames can win 5 of their next 6 given the opponents? Absolutely.

Am I willing to put money on them without any odds? No because that's a horrible bet for me to make.

This is a poorly coached team.

if he didn't call out the refs on that debacle people would be losing it about that.

Trouble is you have to out-play a team or two that are also playing well. Factor in some head-to-head 3 point games and we're in tough. One or two teams are going to go cold and drop out, but we have to leapfrog 3 of Colorado, St. Louis, Dallas, Anaheim, and LA and they've all got either more points or games in hand. Obviously we could get lucky and 3 of them could fade down the stretch, but I'd be willing to bet most of them are in the .550-.600 range, so we'll have to be pushing .650 to pass them.

Jon is holding the fort down alright. He just needs to clean up that one bad goal per game, but puts in an admirable performance otherwise.

Rittich is likely sent down after Smith is back, unless Gillies blows a fuse.

The Florida game, the Vegas game, and this game... with Smith in net we'd perhaps be looking at 6 points instead of zero!

When faced with the option between playing NHL players, and non-NHL players, a good coach would make obvious choice.
The TEAM, man, the TEAM.

The Team lost in the cup final the year before. The pieces were there, it wasn't working. The coaching change made sense.

The flames got SWEPT in the FIRST ROUND last year, and finished in the basement of the league the year before that.

It would be completely idiotic to fire Gulutzan right now. idiotic.

Considering this is the Flames we're talking about, that might actually make it more likely, but it would still be stupid.

I don’t know about passion but the one thing the Flames have never seemingly figured out is that games at start of season count the same as games at end of season.

The team and coaching staff are doing some things differently now that maybe should have been tried earlier.
