You're right, but we don't have that awful humidity to make the stuff stick to us.

Cheese is just trying to make himself feel better about living in the armpit of Canada.
Sunniest major city in Canada? Check!
Chinooks to break the cold snaps? Check!
Wearing a bikini and going to the lake to suntan rather than wash the sweat off? Check!
Sorry Cheese, I'll take dry, really cold and dry heat over wet cold and really wet heat. Apparently most agree.

Um, just curious, but where exactly is there a lake anywhere near here?

Arbour Lake? Sylvan Lake? Lake Mackenzie? Bikinis don't care if the lake is man made or not.

LOL...keep the blindfolds on Fly! LOL...
We get lots of sun to go with the heat, and at least we have lakes of every size all around us....we dont have sloughs like Sunny Alberta! We actually have time to suntan here...right into late september or October...not the end of July like Alberta!

Right, but in a discussion about which is better; Calgary or Southern Ontario- I wouldn't bring lakes into the discussion. That's like a Flames fan agruing with an Oilers fan about which team is better, and bringing up the fact that we won the cup in 1989.

While I agree with you about Alberta weather, this is a huge point in Southern Ontario's favour.
SW Ontario is surrounded by lakes. The beach "views" are much more impressive. Nothing in Alberta can compare to Grand Bend, or a number of other beaches on Lakes Ontario, Erie, Huron, Georgian Bay (or the myriad of lakes in cottage country).

The point wasn't about lakes it was about being in a sweaty bikini. I'd rather not swim in any lake, especially ones in Ontario... pollution much?

Not saying you don't get sun, but statistically speaking, Calgary is the sunniest major city in Canada. (The sunniest city is actually Lethbridge I think. COuld be Medicine Hat.)
As well, statistically speaking, June is the same as August when it comes to weather, and last year we were golfing into December. I'd rather have the sun and the happiness that comes with it, than the rain and the smog.
You sure you get more time to sunbathe? I mean, you have the air advisories and such telling you to stay indoors all the time... and what's the point of a lake if you can't swim in it? Yuck.

LOL..ok so you get LOTS of sun when its -30 degrees outside...LOL...at least its a dry cold!
Seriously...come on out in the summer and have some fun at the lakes...you wont think the same way.
As Far as Golf goes...well Calgary and area cant compete there either...Burlington has a course thats open year round...and many others are only closed for a month or two max.
Smog is relative to big cities...Im not in Toronto...aka the big smog...but Ive been to a lot of major cities and Calgary is right up there with a nice brown hue ...take a look to the east.

Been there, done that. Can't stand the mosquitos. They use water to breed, FYI. More water means more mosquitos. I'll pass on that one too.

I gotta say that I love summers in Southern Ontario. And there isn't a lake in Alberta. Not like say.. Lake Huron. I miss West Ipperwash Beach.

Well, there is a reason why they're called the Great Lakes.

My cousins came over from England a few years ago for the first time and I couldn't convince them that Lake Ontario was NOT the ocean. They couldn't comprehend that they couldn't see the other side of a lake. They didn't believe me until we got home and I showed them in an atlas.

hmmmm...maybe in northern Ontario. We have had almost no mosquitoes here at all...but I know Cowtown had a literal breeding frenzy the last few years. We do get other bugs you dont have...but they dont "bug" me. Beautiful sandy beaches...nothing like in Alberta at all.
