Bishop had our number tonight. Flames pressed about as much as you can hope for in the third. i'm OK with this loss. The effort and quality chances were there. But we are razor thin on how many more of these 'ok losses' we can suffer, before the playoffs are out of reach. Beating a dead horse .... its those losses to the bottom feeders in January that are coming back to hurt us.
Giordano was awesome tonight. Can't say the same for Hamilton. Bennett impressed me on the 1L, i like the fact he is trying to steal the spot from Ferland. Frolik is playing like a 3L winger - and i think GG put him there at times in the third. its where he belongs until he turns his game around.
Gilles - meh. i would have started Rittich.

Flames couldn't/shouldn't have made any of those deals so I wouldn't worry about it too much

Way too much moral victory talk going on. Flames need points that's it.

I wonder if Kane would've made a difference on this team. 2 assists already. Oh well

Likely would've cost this team assets this team doesn't have. So he was probably out of reach for Flames.

They weren't gonna run the table...some people are discussing what actually happened during the game because its relative to future games.
That effort gets you two points tomorrow night IMO

There’s a stark contrast in offensive firepower from our incredibly average group of finishers vs the top tier. Just watch William Nylander’s assist tonight and tell me if Sam Bennett could ever pull an individual move like that.
Nylander and Ehlers are absolute offensive dynamos and it kind of makes me sad that Bennett has such a hard time creating a single scoring chance.
|
Ehlers and nylander have both benefited by playing with other high end skill players. Young Offensive players need quality linemates to generate and build confidence.

Flames played really well. Bishop was hot. Not much to complain about from me tonight.
Stewart looks like he'll be a good fit in our bottom 6.

Do you remember him dancing through Ian Cole as if he wasn't even there?
Or when he got Duchene tangled silly in behind the net?
Bennett is very capable of skilled plays, probably 3rd best on the team. He really doesn't show it very consistently though.

Better than the extreme negativity we've been seeing in PGT's.

I watched the third and currently watching back through the recording.
I’ll admit that Bennett didn’t play great but you cannot claim that stewart was any better or anything more than our worst forward.
Honestly they didn’t do enough. A team that wants to be a playoff team and not only that but to actually win a series or two is gonna have to overcome killing penalties and running into a hot goalie...
This team gets every excuse but honestly they probably aren’t a playoff team this year.

Stewart wasn't better than Bennett other than not taking a stupid penalty...he was far from our worst forward though. I am actually really encouraged to have him in the bottom six over some of the usual suspects.

I like the personnel on the PP (finally), but they still have no one-timers. By the time players have taken a pass and readjusted to shoot, the PKers are in the shooting lanes.
Still too fixated on "righties play on the right, lefties on the left".
