Flames just can't seem to stay out of the box tonight. Refs calling every little chincy thing.

Quite a lot of unnecessary penalties tonight. They have to clean it up. Too hard to play from behind and be short-handed at the same time.

You were just hoping it worked. But guess what? Chris Stewart has been in the league for years. Been on like 6 teams. He is what he is. NOT a first line winger. Come on.
I'll give you my honest answer, I don't think having Sam up there long-term is the answer. The best fit is Ferland. Absent him I understand the desire to try a new guy up there for the many reasons I listed earlier.
It is a valid approach.
But if it isn't working it should also be changed.
I didn't watch the first, so I don't have much to judge on as the 2nd was a ton of special teams.

Difference in the game is goaltending...not who is on what line

Also tough when a blatant missed penalty against leads directly to a goal. Need a hell of a makeup call to compensate for that.

Tough night so far, no flow to the game with a penalty call every 2 mins

.944

That is Mike Smith's road save %

Cut that down to an excellent .922 or something and we'd probably be where the Oilers are in the standings.

Shots on goal 25-18. Flames playing well but need to finish.

You can't just change stats to fit your narrative

Again. All of the blame. None of the credit.

Dallas is a great team because of elite coaching
Flames are 1 point behind because of their road save %
Got it.

If Bishop is playing well then you might need 20+ shots in the period. Shorten the bench and power up the first line.

What else? Keep doing the same thing and lament running into a hot goalie?

Flames outshot Dallas 17-8 in that period and have played a pretty solid game outside of all the penalties. Bishop is simply outplaying Gillies tonight, and that's basically the story of the game so far.

Flames can still make a game of this, but it's gonna be tough to find a crack in Bishop's armour.
