The same people hear freaking out are likely the same ones that did when we brought over Kris Versteeg who was on a PTO was on the first line to start. It's just a test of chemistry for christ sake.
Or maybe we don't have a problem with the pick up and are just wondering what he has done to bump Bennett from the first line, a guy who was really starting to play well and who needs the confidence boost. Long term Bennett is (most likely) more important to this club than Chris Stewart.
I hope he has a great game. On the first line I would be disappointed if he doesn't.
Always earned, right? Is it that hard to see the other side of this?

I am happy with any big shot added to Johnny's line, especially if it is productive. I could put Stone on his line and he would get twenty. Ferland is a beast and would add value to 3rd or 4th line. I want to supplement Johnny's skill, not Ferland's.

The coach has explained all of this. Moreover, there are dozens of responses in this thread and today's PGT which have echoed his explanation. Why do some posters continue to ignore this?

Has this management or coaching staff ever uttered this mantra? This was the modus operandi of a previous regime, and I wish people would stop using it as an indictment of the current hockey ops dept.

Asking around the locker-room, it seems most of the Calgary Flames were unaware of the so-called ‘Stewie Sprint.’
Uh oh.
Flames waiver-claim Chris Stewart arrives with one of the NHL’s most unique rituals — a high-speed scamper, on blades, back to his locker stall after he finishes his prep during the pre-game warm-up.
“From the ice to my seat in the dressing room, I just come running in,” Stewart explained after Tuesday’s morning skate at American Airlines Center, where he debuted in the Flaming C logo in a road date with the Dallas Stars. “That’s just what I’ve been doing throughout my career, and it kind of got famous when I went to Minnesota.
“It’s nothing too crazy. But with a new team, it’s going to be tough because you have guys who leave warm-ups at different time and I might catch a couple by surprise.

I'm curious to see a Bennett-Janko-Stewart line once everyone is healthy.
Really? I’m not. Bennett and Janko have both been massive busts, and someone else’s waiver wire dump doesn’t really color me inspired. Different strokes, I guess.

Do you not like Bennett or Jankowski? I couldn't tell. You'd better keep posting the same thing over and over and over. Everyone here really, really values you and your pertinent opinion.
not the be all end all of course, but it was good to hear that Stewart works out with Stajan and Versteeg in the summers...
Quote:
“He’s a force when he’s playing,” Stajan said. “He’s a big body, he can skate, he’s got a lot of skill. And he’s a really good guy. He’s a lot of fun. He’ll fit right into the locker room. He’s a well-liked guy, I train with him in the summer and he’s fun to be around. That part is great. He’s a power forward that you don’t see very often in this league anymore, it’s kind of fading away. For a stretch playoff drive, he’s a good fit and we’re excited to get him.”
Well, of course. If he had played this year for any other coach in the universe, including Adolf Eichmann or Simon Legree, he would be a shoo-in for the Calder. But because he plays for Snidely Gulutzan, he is completely ruined and will never be fit to play in the NHL again. The proof of this is surely obvious.

Jankowski is a rookie. He’s played like 50 games and he’s a bust? Here’s a story, there’s a guy named Brad Marchand who’s one of the best wingers in the game today and he only had 1 assist in 50+ games in his rookie season. I wouldn’t judge a rookie too harshly in which he’s looked pretty good at times. He’s just hit the rookie wall like 90% of first year players.
As for Sam, he’s still very raw and has some refining to do in his overall game. But he still has the potential to be an excellent pro. He’s no Nylander or Ehlers, but he could one day be a gritty 25g-25a guy at his peak which isn’t too shabby.

Rookie? Sure. 23 year old rookie who is looking lost out there. I agree he has room to grow. But, on this 2018 team, he is a below average centreman that doesn’t drive offence. I think anyone here would admit that his production this year has not met even the most generous of homer expectations.
Happy
To talk about next year and potential and all that. But I responded to a post where someone said the were “excited to see” what a WW pickup could do with Bennett and Janko. I assumed they meant now.
Janko is on pace for 15 goals, which is pretty good production for a 3C. Bennett is probably worth about a 2nd-round pick and a prospect... but there's zero point in trading him.

Don’t disagree that we can’t trade Bennett. In my view that is evidence for why he is a bust. He’s a hold and hope. Young, so there is time (and no option, really). But right now he’s a bust. Just calling a spade a spade.
I’ll eat my hat if Janko gets 15. Agree “bust” was a bit harsh, but this kid has been a ghost since 2017. Brutal, really. My “bust” comment wrt him was more a comment on what he has brought to this playoff hunting team.
But I take your point. We can’t write either off at this point. Out of necessity and lack of opportunity

Your expectations are your expectations, but right now he’s sitting 6th on our team in goal scoring and he’s missed a chunk of games. His overall game needs improvement like any first year player, but not using the word bust probably would’ve been a better idea if you’re talking about just this season.
