Let's break up the first line that has been doing well with a developing player for the past two games for a player that was on the waiver wire due to having a terrible season. That surely will be successful!
Gulutzan logic. Good grief.

Last season he played with Gaudreau more than Brouwer or Versteeg. Keep in mind, though, they were still wanting him to be a centre (which a lot of Bennett advocates wanted). So when Monahan was in Bennett wasn't going to be with Gaudreau as much.

Jankowski isn’t even close to gaudreau or Monahan, especially not lately with the rookie wall he’s run headlong into.
I think I’m mostly just expressing frustration with GG refusing to give Bennett even close to the same amount of leash as anyone else on the top line wing.
Thanks for posting the usages and I think it just proves my point that they have tried anybody but Bennett if at all possible. I guess we can ignore last years usages but this year especially I find it incredible that Ferland, who has gone on some good streaks and some bad spells, has been allowed to work through it while remaining on the top line but you get one guy in off waivers and suddenly bennett gets demoted? I know they do it because they have faith that Bennett can actually drive his own line and want to keep forcing that because it does give the organization the best path to truly having a second line once he and janko develop into what we all hope they become. But GG is sewering his development in favour of a washed up Chris Stewart
Won’t surprise me when he requests a trade out of here and goes on to establish himself as a top forward in this league

If I don't have to see Radulov celebrate a goal tonight, I'll consider that a major win.
Guy celebrates every goal at any point like its a game 7 OT winner.

Whats the point, right?
Its like if I sought out and went through the hassle of signing up on a Rangers board, then logged in each day to talk about the Flames. When the time comes to make a prediction or comment on the Rangers I just go "meh".

He also allegedly resides in Calgary, so makes a little more sense.
But then come playoffs 2017 and he jumps on the Oilers bandwagon over the Flames and bonds with the Oiler trolls that were setting up camp here during their little cinderella run. Just.. why?

I really want Bennett to succeed and I am definitely not a Gulutzan supporter (bring back Darryl!), but I don't know that Bennett is really any better than Ferland.
Sure he was selected higher in the draft, but from what I've seen, Ferland is just as skilled as Bennett and his production has been on par if not better.
Bennett put up a ton of points in junior? Guess what, so did Ferland.
What skill does Bennett have that is greater than Ferland?
Skating - probably a wash
Puck handling - a wash
Passing - I give to Ferland
Playmaking - a wash
Shot - Ferland hands down
Hockey Sense - i'd give the edge to Ferland
Ferland gets very underrated on this board. I think skill wise, he's one of the top players on the Flames, his problem is consistency. If all goes well, I see Ferland topping out as a Todd Bertuzzi type, who faced the same consistency issues in New York before realizing his potential in Vancouver.
I really don't see a whole lot of elite skill in Bennett, but I see a super competitive nature. If all goes well, I see Bennett topping out as a Mike Fisher type.
Bennett is living off of his high draft status right now. I'm coming to the conclusion that his high point totals in junior were the result of his highly competitive nature being significantly greater than other junior players, not necessarily him being more skilled.
And i'm not a Bennett hater, i want to see him stay as a Flames, even if all he becomes is a Mike Fisher.

I'm surprised throughout all this disdain about Stewart no one has stopped to ask why Shore doesn't even get a chance to get into the lineup.

I doubt Stewart plays more than the first period on that top line. Or so I would hope.
It's actually a real tough spot to put him in. If it were me, I'd want to transition to a new team by starting in a lesser role so I had time to learn the systems without too much pressure, and without peeving any of my new teammates. This kind of forces him front and center on day 1, and gives him the pressure of contributing - and specifically producing points - right out of the gate.

His plane didn’t arrive until sometime after the morning skate.
Flights from Ottawa to Dallas aren’t commonplace apparently

What in the hell are you talking about? The only two players who have seen more time on the top line this year are Ferland—who is a FIXTURE there because of how effective that group is, and Jagr, who is no longer on the roster. Who else is getting more opportunities with Monahan and Gaudreau than Sam Bennett?

Why do you interpret this adjustment as a "demotion"?

Wow. You just completely invalidated your first sentence with the second one.
Sentence 1: Bennett is playing with Jankowski a lot because coaches rightly believe that this is the best way to develop both players into effective impact scoring forwards.
Sentence 2: Gulutzan is damaging Bennett's development by having him playing with Jankowski.

No problem with giving him a shot on the topline. There's been rationale reasons articulated in this thread, AND the coach has even said he will start there and be moved around.
So what's the issue here?

I don't care about the temporary 5v5 lines, with a top line player in Ferland out. It'll likely revert back to that, or if there are early struggles with Stewart, Bennett will be back there by period 2.
They just gotta play well. Win!

There's only one other team that puts waiver claims on the top line and they're No Good.

Anyone but Bennett = Ferland who has blossomed, and Jagr (for what is probably a half a game more). Anyone but Bennett =/= Brouwer, Versteeg, Tkachuk, Frolik, Hathaway, Lazar, Mangiapane...

Chris Kunitz?
Mark Recchi with the Thrashers?
Grabner was on waivers. I think he played top line thereafter.
I think Byron saw top line time in Montreal.

Something else on your mind today?
Ugh you might be right about those, but let's call a spade a spade here... Baffling top line assignment for the big Chris Stewart. I was a fan of the pickup because it cost nothing, but it's going to cost us something if Glenn wants to see him work out with the big guns
