Waiving Hathaway serves no purpose until next season. He is no longer eligible to be sent down to the AHL for the rest of this season.

Could be next year or even this year if they want him in Stockton playing. I mean they already waived him at the start of the season so it’s not like they are all that afraid of losing him

Hath may well be one of those guys who's too good for the AHL, but just not good enough to play an NHL game on a regular basis. More big team depth never hurts.

And I don’t hate the move I just have zero expectations for either players performance that we picked up today. Especially Stewart

Treliving: one of the things they were looking for was a RH C that could handle defensive responsibilities.
excellent PKer.
looked at a bunch of people, but he came in at a price that worked.

Well, Drew didn't work out, so we can try out his brother! Extremely low acquisition cost here. Some contingency for injuries in the playoffs is not a bad thing.

The more I look at this the more I actually really like this move.
Shore has really impressive underlying numbers and I think he may have more offense to give here. Similar stats to Jankowski in NCAA and first couple years of AHL. Buried in his time in LAK.
Career individual shooting percentage of 5% - which is abysmal and seems unlucky unless he has the worst shot in the NHL (seems unlikely as he had 20 goals in 38 AHL games at one point).
However he generates a ton of chances - his per 60 chance creation rates are similar to Toffoli and Parsons - he just has on on-ice shooting percentage of 6.6% and plays with Lewis and Andreoff all the time.
Really good passing rates and creates has really good primary assist stats for his ice time/linemates.
Honestly I wouldn't mind seeing this to see what happens:
Gaudreau - Monahan - Bennett
Tkachuk - Backlund - Shore
Ferland - Janko - Frolik
Lazar - Stajan - Brouwer
Demoting Ferland and Frolik really makes that 3rd line look good all of a sudden.

I don't think Shore is going to be taking Frolik's spot in the lineup

I also think he’s a better player than ppl are giving him credit for.
Great deadline for the Flames.

FYI, the Flames still have a seventh-round pick next year, acquired in the Lack deal.
