Prices are really high. I don't think the Flames have the picks to do anything. Can't see them giving up two of their defense prospects.

He also played with Eichel and Rodriguez in Boston University.

FWIW, i played a tournament in Banff years ago when the Jets were having part of their training camp in Banff. When we were outside having beers on our last game, they were running dry land training, and doing laps. Kane was going balls to the wall, but seemed super disinterested in hanging with the team. The team was all doing light jogging, laughing etc with each other, while Kane was ahead of the pack.

On the corollary, Byfuglien lagged behind, and when he passed us, he let out a groan with 'Efff... I effing hate laps..' The guys were ribbing him the whole time. Nothing towards Kane though.

Again, just what i saw. My observations were that Kane looked out of place to what the team was doing.

Also another story. My neighbour plays AAA Bantam, with some kid who's brother played with Kane when he was with Vancouver, and he had heard that while Kane lit it up in the WHL, the whole team hated him for his attitude. Apparently he was an arrogant, me first individual. Anyhow, hearsay, but it kind of goes in line with's said about him.

I'm happy we didn't bring him on and mess with the synergy.

That seems nasty enough for me. I don't see any teams pushing Calgary around.
Outside of Ferland Tkachuk and perhaps Giordano, nobody on the Flames is particularly good at playing borderline dirty but effective. Tkachuk is still too young to scare anyone. He may get under the skin of someone like Drew Doughty, but you can bet the Kings laugh about Tkachuk in the dressing room. he doesn't scare them like - i'm sorry to say - someone like Kessler or Getzlaf or Brown probably scare our top players.

Who do you think Kesler or Getzlaf is scaring?

What a load of crap. In this context, how many players actually "scare" anyone?

Tkachuk gets under the skin of LA like few others. I very much doubt they sit there laughing about him.

Invest in self-defense classes in the Bay Area with women-hitting Kane on the loose.

i don't know if you've played the game - but a teenager or one of our more mild-tempered guys in his early 20s on the ice is very vulnerable to being intimidated by a big mid-30s guy with a bit of a mean streak. Its subtle, but effective NHL hockey. And its hardly a load of crap.

Everything you just said about Tkachuk relative to LA was a load of crap.

As far as being a physical, disturbing presence, Tkachuk does that in spades with LA.

Bennett has driven Kssler nuts in the past. Hathaway singlehandedly drove guys like Chara and Burns nutty before.

And it's really irrelevant. Skill, discipline and speed win championships, grit wins you also-ran status The cup goes through Nashville, Vegas, Tampa, Boston, Pittsburgh, Toronto, Winnipeg. People focus too much on out nasty-ing the ducks when that isn't the reason they beat us either of the last two times. As for the Sharks I am unafraid. They have a great blueline with Burns and Vlasic but I don't Kane does much for them in the grand shceme. They're better, but others are still better than them.

I will take that bet. And if anything Brown should be scared of Gio.

What young players on Calgary would be intimidated? Bennett - the guy that fought successfully against Manson? Gaudreau - who has skated rings around Doughty? Tkachuk, who has Doughty muttering his name in his sleep? Ferland, who has Bieksa doing the same? Monahan? Jankowski? Hamilton?

Kessler isn't scary - he's an irritant. Getzlaf is a physical force, but not in a scary way, other than he's really good at playing hockey. Brown is not a concern - Gio just knocks him into next week again.

Or if they take extreme liberties, you have Stewart now, or Brouwer, who is a very underrated fighter.

After finding out that we have Chris Stewart I am excited to see the first game whe're Stewart and Kane go head-to-head.

I wanna see some fireworks where Stewart dominates not just in the fight but as a teammate battling for his team as a good teammate.

Glad he's (Kane) someone else's issue. I hope this backfires on the Sharks like everything else has as these guys were supposed to have won a cup already and haven't.

Good. Ferland has the same amount of goals, despite cooling down recently, and is a quality human being unlike Kane. Did not want.
