I know it looks like hindsight, but. . . .
That Flames have always said they wouldn't chase a rental, and that's what Kane is (on top of his other flaws). I doubt this was ever the player the Flames were in on, so what they were alluded to be hunting for in the Conroy interviews, they'll still be in on.

Yeah weird to see a lot of people cheering about this guy going to a team that we could easily face in round 1.
I get you're happy that we didn't give up prospects for a rental but him going to SJ is probably the worst team he could have gone to.
