I'd rather the Flames did this than give up assets to the Oilers for Patrick Maroon.

This year alone the flames have added Jankowski and Hathaway full time to the bottom six and have tried Mangiapane, Lomberg,Klimchuk, Hrivik there as well.

Bennett and Lazar have also been fixtures in the bottom six.

This thread pretty lol worthy.

This keeps Lomberg and Glass out of the lineup.
Orrrr, once Ferland is back - Brouwer?

Not sure which one you are referring too but neither Brouwer or Ferland are what I would call slow. They don't have blazing speed but they aren't slow. They are mid range...not many rosters with top to bottom speedsters.

They both have other issues but being slow isn't one of them IMO.

No chance. Brouwer is much better than Stewart

Is he? In what ways? Skating? Hitting? Puck handling? Hockey sense? Scoring? Passing?

The Flames need goals. Chris Stewart has nine, which is as many as Brouwer, Stajan, and Lazar combined.

I'll take it.

Definitely a guy that could prove very useful if he has something to prove

Hopefully he and Brouwer are interchangeable more than anything. He's a great guy to have in the playoffs, and I could see playing well on our 3rd & 4th line.

Alright, no risk and could be a good move but I don't even care anymore. I'm a fan! No wonder he's liked in the dressing room.

In every aspect but scoring, Stewart has a heavy big shot. Most of the time he just floats around lazily or takes a dumb penalty. I really hope he proves me wrong.

He's incredibly slow, he's 31 and he has a reputation for being lazy.

Considering that just recently Boston and Vegas spanked us with speed, this is is just horrible.

Why not just take it in stride, no need to be upset. It's not like the Flames traded away an asset to get him.

I suppose. I wanted the Flames to improve this deadline. Or to try and recoup some picks. This does neither.

I can only hope he does well, but I'm not gonna hold my breath.

With a half hour left, I see this waiver pick up and the assumed return of Versteeg as the only real adds we'll see in Calgary.

Anything else would see someone we wouldn't want to part with going the other way.

Why do you keep saying this?

Stewart isn't an either/or situation vs other deals. The Flames are still looking at all of the things they were looking at before. On top of that, Stewart came along for free and they were able to improve their depth with a guy that fills a role they need, comes free, and is highly motivated.

This idea that you want different changes is completely off the mark and irrelevant - they are just as likely to happen as they were before.
