TSN for some reason projecting the 2022 Olympic team. Monahan and Hamilton not on their list.

How about Hamilton? Isn’t he second in defensman goals? Laughable

I'm not overly familiar with Horvat, but from what I understand, he's a better 200 ft. player.
Team Canada likes to build based on roles, so maybe Horvat fits a role that Monahan doesn't, and the roles that Monahan would fit are filled with better players?

I dunno, I think Monahan has a very underrated two way game. It seems to have improved noticeably this year.

It's pretty gross to take Horvat over Monahan. Clearly trying to curry some favor with their BC Viewers. Leaving Hamilton out is just plain insulting.

Ya, Horvat can drive the play whereas Monahan is a better finisher... They're value is closer than most flames fans would like to admit.

Those 4 prospects have nothing in common with Ryan Hartman though. Iagree prospects like those rarely get moved and hard to place a value on them. I'm not sure they have all increased their value to be greater than first round pick.

Maybe we'll get an idea if one of them gets moved.

Horvat and Monahan were both selected in the 2013 entry draft. One of these players has 138 NHL goals and 275 points. The other one has a little more than half of that.

Sean Monahan is a better player than Bo Horvat by a county mile and he always has been. Their comparative value is not close.

If I have to pick a 4th line energy center for a team canada roster I'm probably going Horvat over Monahan too.

Doesn't mean he's the better overall player but for that specific role I would go Horvat.

Not saying Monahan's points are all due to Gaudreau, but Horvat has played with nowhere close to the linemate quality as Monahan either.

Agreed. Monahan is the better player but to fill a depth role Horvat brings more energy etc.... don't totally agree with it but I can see where they are coming from.

Flip Stone to a contender desperate for playoff depth (2nd or 3rd rounder). Then trade that pick with a defense prospect to Buffalo for a (signed) Kane.

Of course, much easier said than done. But my point is that one trade can be used to set up another.

Time is running out though.
