WOW, 9 goals?! Amazing...
Good in the room... who gives a a rat's ass? Stajan is good in the room, Brouwer is good in the room. The fact is, what they do on the ice is what matters the most. And he's been scratched 7 times in the past 9 games and 12 times since Jan 4th. Great player, for sure.
In isolation, it's a no risk signing. I understand that. What pisses me off, though, is what it symbolizes. Instead of going for speed and youth, we get another old and slow player who's best season was 5+ years ago. We need depth scoring, Chris Stewart is NOT that. Last time he hit 30+points was in 2012-2013. And he scored 36. How will this improve our depth scoring?
Just because it's a no risk, doesn't make it a good move.
|
I don't think it says that; he provides some insurance for us in a position that we're relatively thin in, and prices were too high on quality pieces up for grabs on RW.
If we were signing him as a free agent on July 1, I would agree with you.

So what was the asking price for all if the guys you think we should have traded for? You seem convinced something else was left on the table. What were they?

You seem fairly fired up about a no-risk move, that adds a heavy body on the right side. This cost us no assets. Who knows how long Ferland is out?
It symbolises nothing and your being a little dramatic.

I find this take bizarre actually, free depth player who has size and can score. If we play Anaheim in the playoffs, he will pay some dividends.
|
Just roster spot in the sense that if he is in the lineup, he takes that spot from somebody else.

Every team in the league is looking for young fast guys who can score. This move doesn't symbolize we don't want that it likely symbolizes that the price to obtain it is to high.

I am hardly crazy about this pickup but Stewart has more goals this season than Hathaway, Lazar, and Brouwer combined, and also ties Frolik.

Has Iggy played any hockey since last year? Didn’t he just start to practice with an AHL club?
Did we just forget what happened with that HOF guy?

If he is anywhere near our top 9, we are in serious trouble. I suppose he could be a good 4th line option, but I'd rather see that position go to Hathaway or someone younger who could provide energy.

He beat out Pietrangelo in a race for the puck while starting further back and scored a beauty. Doesn't look like a guy who is slow. Haven't seen Brouwer do anything like that.

Some of the people saying he is too slow want Iggy back lol

Stewart on the radio now. Sounds like he want to cause some pain in the Pacific division. Nice..

I wonder who the guy is they are talking about.

I think the Flames were always going to claim Stewart and his acquisition doesn't change what the Flames are trying to trade for today. Flames have been eyeing him for quite some time. Thought he was gonna come here two trade deadline's ago. Him coming here doesn't signify that the Fames are done today

I think he can get the 3rd line producing again, and maybe help fix the second PP unit (right hand shot). Free pick up, I like it.

Louie Debrusk on the Sportsnet panel just said that Stewart "has the quickness and speed on the straightaway to get to the puck".
Where did this Stewart is slow come from? I really think people have no idea and because he's big just equate that to slow. All of a sudden CP has him labeled as slow.
