He's incredibly slow, he's 31 and he has a reputation for being lazy.
Considering that just recently Boston and Vegas spanked us with speed, this is is just horrible.

fwiw, his possession metrics seem to be pretty typical for a passenger, but at the cap hit you can't really complain. I think he could potentially be an improvement on line 3 allowing us to drop Hathaway to line four. The problem, of course, is ol' Troy.

No risk so why not. Sure shows how much our RW depth sucks though.

I like it, nice depth move no big risk. No worries about not enough roster spots either.

Well since you are inviting it, he's 30, not 31/

Are you overreacting? Yes. By a long shot. But you know best, you've done the eye test and also figured out exactly how he'll be used.
So yeah, you're just looking for something to hate about this deal.

Boston also got a whole lot slower by getting Nash. and i wouldn't mind getting spanked by Boston this playoff.

I've seen some confusion over Stewart's best seasons so here they are;
2009/2010 - 64 points in 77 GP
2010/2011 - 53 points in 62 GP
2012/2013 - 36 points in 48 GP
Career average 0.49 PPG (318 points in 645 GP)

I don't see any counter arguments, just a personal attack.
Again, did I say anything that is not true?

My main concern is not the acquisition cost (obviously none) but in utilization of him over a better performer. Given the trials with Brouwer's excessive usage, I'm hesitant, but am willing to see how this pans out.
I must qualify this post with the fact that I have barely seen the guy play this year, and that I am not a huge supporter of GG (although not on the 'fire him now!' boat).

You're just freaking out and having what is amounting to a hissy fit over a free waiver pickup.
Way, way too upset about it.

Kristen Anderson mentioned on twitter that he's pretty good in the shootout. Checked the stats and he's 6 for 7 over the past three seasons (including 3 for 4 this year).
Another area that has been lacking with Versteeg out...

He is an NHL player.
That is an upgrade over several of the players we have been trying out there. I'd easily take him over Hathaway or Lomberg. The Flames need a filler depth RW and free is always a good price to pay.
