Statsny would have been a decent stop gap pickup. The top teams are really loading up this year. That price is not too bad for what he brings.

Man, if the Blues are selling and the division leaders are loading up, I'm thinking the Flames should sell as well. What's the use of going into the first round and exiting quick. Better to get some assets and build for next season and the future.

Anything can happen in the playoffs. If you just give up because other teams look good, you're going to be sitting outside the playoffs every year.

There's no guarantee that they get into the first round and exit quick. If we were playing that game, then the Flames should have sold off in 2004.
Your goal should be to get to the dance, unless you want to be the perpetual loser franchise that gives up when its close.

Stastny fits in as the 3rd line centre.... Between Ehlers and Laine. They might be hard to match up with.
That might be what got Stastny to waive.

I think a lot of players will play in any city if they get an honest chance to win. rental or no.

Good move for the Jets. That is a feisty looking forward group now. They really turned things around since the Laine pick in 2016.
Really surprising by the Blues. If the Flames pulled this move sitting one single point out from the last wildcard spot, fans would be calling for Treliving's head. So who knows maybe the Blues needed a 1st to get someone else... interesting move.

The cup favourites definitely reinforcing their position.
Jets, preds, pens, bruins for certain, with moves still likely coming from the bolts and Vegas....
