He also had a couple other high PPG seasons but they were short seasons. When first traded to St Louis he was dominant.

To be fair there is no roster limit after the deadline.

Great move here. No cost to acquire, cheap cap hit and he is a UFA.

A motivated Chris Stewart is not only tough to play against, but he can put the puck in the back of the net. I am hopeful he comes motivated.

If not, hey... he is about as good as it gets in the fighting department without bona fide goons out there, and he can beat up Lucic, which will hopefully mean that the Flames play a bit more aggressive against them.

How can anyone really have an issue with this? Free, and if he sucks, he sits.

Chris Stewart is streaky and hopefully, by coming to a new team, will start a good streak.
When he's not feeling it, he coasts worse than Rene Bourque. I have never been a fan, but having said that I also totally expected this to be the Flames' big move of the day.

Actually never knew this either, thought he was a career 30 pointer. It was almost a decade ago though and has not been good the last 4 years. Who knows!

I think Stewart can really turn it around with us. However, I do not want him to "turn it around" enough for him to think he deserves a contract with us and that Treliving signs him to anything. It's just a depth move and should be thought of that, nothing else.

There is a reason the cost is free.

The glaring need for a RW is what makes this at worst a neutral move.

But this could end up actually being pretty good. If not, oh well. This has little to no bearing on other potential moves.

Hopefully ends up serving as a 13th forward that can slot in on the 3rd line and provide some scoring if there are injuries, as opposed to AHL guys that aren't going to find net like we've had lately.

Really like the sound of this

Quote:
“These guys are like my family,” Stewart said. “Even when I’m not playing and I see my boys score, I’m the happiest guy for them. I really bank on being a heart-and-soul guy.”

That response speaks to the leadership qualities the 30-year-old Stewart brought to the locker room and is something the Wild will miss if he is claimed off of waivers.

“He’s a great person,” Boudreau said. “We don’t know what’s going to happen yet. Nothing might happen. … I think doing this, if someone picked him up, it would give him an opportunity to play a lot more.”

Of note - his 9 goals and 13 points are in 47 games, not 62. Considering also that he plays only about 10 minutes per game, his production isn't horrific.

Think the Flames don’t want to see Ferland and Tkachuk fighting too much down the stretch. We do need a guy who can fill that role, cuz Lomberg was getting his face caved in

Very Rene Bourque like, he has the skill and potential to hit 60 in the NHL (did with colorado) but almost never puts in enough effort.
