I wonder if Brodie, Bennett, Fox can get you ROR (30% retained), Kane and McCabe or something along those lines...that way Buff upgrades their offensive d men, and Calgary gets some certainty in ROR with a chance to retain Kane if they wish.

I can get behind a Flames acquisition of Kane if he signs a reasonable 2-4 year contract. There is going to be concerns about his off ice issues and impact on the room. If they can add him for prospects and not subtract from the current team then that does help the team quite a bit for the stretch drive

He has been asked multiple times and never answers, just doubles down with another 'book it' claim.

If there is a deal involving Kane and Bennett (which I highly doubt), the Sabres are adding.

Kane + 2nd is maybe a more realistic return for the Flames. But does that even make sense for the Sabres?

The return for Kane, if there is a deal, will not include Bennett.

Would Lehner be a cap dump? Ie would they retain salary or add a pick or prospect to take him? If not, why would Flames ever want him?

Maybe these sources picked the wrong goalie.

Unless there's an extension involved, unlikely that Flames go for Kane.

More like Kane + Nylander for Bennett alone. Even then I'd be weary ~ I think Kane is a good add for this team but not at the cost of Bennett who easily has enough road in his career to far surpass Kane with where he is at in his career. I still see Bennett as a 60 point player in this league and feel like selling low on him would be a massive mistake/oversight that I just can't see Treliving committing to unless it was an absurd overpayment for us.

I wonder if a signed Kane+2nd for Bennett could be the deal.

The Sabres 2nd would be in the 30’s so it would net the Flames a decent prospect. Kane would sign an extension so Bennett is replaced on the roster with a guy that puts up more points and plays a similar style.

Buffalo is trying to move forward in their rebuild and probably would prefer adding a high upside 21 year old to replace Kane rather than another pick. They give up a pick because they believe Bennett is a future winger for Eichel

Man this is tiring... 20 year old kid in the best league in the world, just signed a new contract and was in Vegas. Players have done worse honestly.

I’m going to take a shot at this one. It might be too big though...

To Calgary:
Kane (with extension 5.5/5years)
ROR retained 25%
Lehner

To Buffalo:
Bennett
Fox
Gilles

Breaking it down, Fox easily gets you UFA Kane, the little extra gets you Lehner for Gilles, Bennett for ROR and retained $ a wash.

Lehner, because Smith is out for the year. Only thing I can’t place is Jankowski in this unless he’s part of the package or replaces Stajan at 4L center once Stajan hits 1000 games

right... no universe does that make sense.

Looks like a young man.

Some of you are so judgemental and unforgiving that it’s just bizarre.

Im glad the internet wasn’t around when I grew up. I’m sure a lot of us would make Kane look like an alter boy (either one).

So I can accept he might have grow up a little since this photo.

ROR is the guy flames should be targeting. He's a lot like Patrice Bergeron. In a better environment, he could really takeoff.

Monahan
ROR
Backlund

Could match pretty much any centre group in the league.

If Sabres can even retain a bit, I'd try Jankowski, Fox and one of the goalies prospects.

If an extension is part of a Kane trade, I wouldn't want to do any more than 3 years. Too many question marks about what kind of player he is these days, and I definitely don't want to pay him into his 30s.
