Not really when you look at the tire fire that is the Buffalo Sabres.
They haven’t done much in way of improving and he’s hitting his prime years - would you re-sign with Buffalo with how the team has been handled the past 3 years?

Maybe it's because they're an awful team, also he's 26.

They could only sign him this year and maybe he sees them as a dump that won't win anything and he's had enough.
Comments like that are head scratchers, lots of high end UFA's test free agency and leave teams. If Tavares leave the Islanders is it because he's crap and they don't want him?

If we're talking around Fox, I would say Fox + a conditional 3rd if he re-signs.

Teams force their players to do these fluff pieces. I’m never fooled by this kind of stuff. To me, It’s about what your teammates think of you and whether they play harder for you then the next guy.
This guy to me is poisonous to a dressing room and has been disliked where ever he’s played. His current teammate Falk called him selfish, Byfuglien threw Kane’s clothes out. Just an unlikable guy who unsurprisingly has never made the playoffs before.

Who says Buffalo hasn't been trying? Maybe they offer him a new contract every day, but he turns them down, because for the first time in his 9 year NHL career he has the option to choose not to play for a team that is hot garbage, and maybe get a shot at the playoffs for once.
Maybe it says more for his character that he hasn't come out to the media and said he absolutely will not sign in buffalo, kinda like karlsson did to Ottawa, but no one questions his character.

An elite 20 year old defensive prospect would likely be NHL ready now.
The fact he might be ready “ in a little as 2 years” means he might never be ready.
That’s just the nature of prospects. Fox is not a sure bet to be an NHL’er.
He’s a very good prospect, but likely Kane will go for more.

I think Giordano, Hamilton, Johnny and others on the Flames would be disappointed that you just equated team initiatives within the community to fluff pieces that they are forced to do.
Gio was proud of that award he won this summer that recognized just how much he’s has done for his community and like him or lump him Kane seems to be a big part of the Buffalo community.
Your basing all of ur distain and hate that you have for Kane on how he left Winnipeg and one player in Falk calling him selfish plus some twitter pics that show him being cocky.
I think the Flames are a dilligent team when it comes to character and I’m confident all things will be checked off in their minds before they commit to Kane but I definitely see a fit here and feel that his attitude issues are being blown out of proportion here.

Good points, and also both of those teams in Winnipeg and Buffalo did not have good leaders to help guide him.

Not when they traded for him.
Three years with the organization and Buffalo never tried resigning him...

You know for a fact that they never tried? You know the player and his agent have a say in this too right?
Show me where they never tried to re-sign him in the past 1104 days or so.

I don’t even dislike Kane. I’m more indifferent to him than anything. Where there is smoke, there is fire and there’s been plenty of fires where Kane has played. Not sure why there’s so much interest in acquiring a guy that has 5 points in his last 23 games. I certainly don’t like the idea of giving up big assets for a guy that might not even improve the team.
Also to note, Eric Francis who’s closer to the Flames than we are specifically said that the Flames aren’t interested in acquiring Kane for character reasons. So it’s not just me here. Personally I’d rather go after a small add that doesn’t cost much just in case we don’t make the playoffs.

They can't sign him to an extension until he's in his last year. Since July, what has Buffalo done to make anyone want to sign with them? Stop saying they had 3 years to sign him to an extension, they didn't.

This 5 pts in his last 23 games is an odd argument - everyone knows Buffalo as a team has been playing terribly. On the year he’s yet again a 20/20 guy with season left in front of him and he’s only 26.
To me he checks a lot of boxes off; do I want us overpaying for him? Certainly not but if the price is right he would be a solid add IMO.

Kane was rumoured to have a huge ego with the Giants. He was not only a problem when leaving Winnipeg, it was throughout. In Buffalo he had troubles with the law and while the charges were dismissed, it was only on conditions insisted upon by the prosecutor who called him “boorish”.

I've always wondered why Byfuglien gets a pass on the whole throwing Kane's clothes into the shower thing. To me that is a dick move, especially for a team captain. I always thought Byfuglien was an ass on the ice and that kind of move shows he is a bit of one off the ice.

That Winnipeg team had great leadership. They traded Kane halfway into the season and then they made the playoffs. Guys like Ladd, Wheeler, Byfuglien and etc provided great leadership. That’s why they didn’t take Kane’s crap.
Buffalo I’ll give you because they’re rebuilding, but a player who’s played as many years as he’s had should be the one leading that young team and further, but instead they’ve consistently been one of the worst teams in the league. Too many cons, not enough pros for me.
