decent period. I like how Bennett goes to line 1 and all of a sudden starts trying. Kinda lame. Like you were capable of moving your legs on line 4 too...

Good recovery by the Flames after the Avs briefly had the momentum. Couple of strong shifts by 3M and the 1st line to close out the period.
Overall, a pretty solid period on home ice. Not bad!

3m line gave Mackinnons line next to no offensive zone time. Fluke that went in. 2-0 is the worst lead in Hockey so glad it is 2-1.

I dunno....with the way he's playing, I bet we could trade bennett for tavares; porbably need to add poirier in as a sweetener, but still makes a ton of sense!

Exactly this. If he draws a couple guys with speed in the zone it only opens up more space for johnny/everyone if Bennett can get the pass off. I’ve also noticed Bennett’s passes this game have been much much better than usual

Poirier is the new Hanowski; you must add him to all trade proposals.

That's such a BS comment. Maybe he's moving his feet because he's not grinding with 4th liners like Brouwer and Hathaway. See how bad Mangiapane and Jankowski look without Bennett? It takes five guys for good play, not one.

Because someone else will be speeding alongside and make something of play with him and he is stoked? Seriously he’s showing jump and your take away is to bitch about his past play? Such an oddly negative way to go with a good thing from today’s game.

Just looks like he is trying way harder now. Totally agree that I'm sure it feels easier to make plays now but it shouldn't stop him from putting forth solid efforts even if the linemates are bad, that's part of learning to be a professional.

Fair. He really needs to figure out that this is an everyday league. Good to see him playing well regardless though.
Tkachuk is a beast.
Unlucky goal, but flames seem to have been outplayed that first period. A bit fortunate to be up in my opinion.

Janko/Hathaway < Bennett < Mony/Gaudreau. In the grand scheme of things Bennett is expected to raise the 3rd line’s level of play, whereas on the first Mony/Gaudreau will raise his level.

I like Bennett’s defensive urgency so far-first man back on several occasions. Exactly what that top line needs-someone to give Mony some support in our own zone.

Who cares honestly, as long as Sam Bennett is playing this well I don't really give a rat's patootie.

Lack of effort has never been Bennett's issue.
