Emile has four goals this year. Four. In the ahl.
His value is likely zilch

I can't see the Flames not doing anything. We struggle to score most games, and we have no first round pick. We have to make the playoffs or it's a disaster. Tre keeps things pretty close to the vest as well.

Most of the local and legit media sources have not heard much regarding the Flames.
I do think the Flames will be extremely quiet in the sense of the traditional trade deadline type moves. They won’t give up assets for a short term player unless the price is minimal. They also are not going to move any pending free agents for futures.
What I do think the Flames could do is a shake up hockey trade. They may include a prospect but are going to be aggressive trying to pick up a player that could be on the team for the next few years. It may cost him a top prospect, or current roster player but I do think Treliving is going to try and do something.

I still don't want us to trade Bennett. Even though he has underperformed this year.. I have the same kinda scary feeling I had about us trading Phaneuf before.. Don't trade Bennett yet.

You could split a hockey trade in 2. A player for picks now. Picks for a player at the draft.

Is it not possible he has been recalled in place of Ferland?

"Adding Poirier as the sweetener" is almost as good as "it would have to happen now to make sense"

Could be.
Heck of a time for Tree to be dealing with injuries.

Not sure why Friedman would change his opinion so abruptly. Makes me wonder if we were in pretty hard on the Grabner trade only to see him dealt to New Jersey.

I think the fact Smith has been out longer than thought, thus taking Gillies out of play, has altered things as well.

Interesting... if not injury related would be odd for the Heat to sit one of their best weapons.
Trade bait or call up if someone else is 'packing their ####' from the big club?

I could see Stajan needing a rest too. He didn't look good after that hit, though he came back in.

We're not making the playoffs, and if we do we're getting slapped around round 1 lol. Unfortunately, we keep hanging around the wildcard race for Tre to be a seller, but we should sell and replenish some picks.
Ferland for a 2nd Round Pick (He's a 20 goal scorer right now and can play a rugged, hard hitting style of play which definitely helps in the playoffs. Kane currently also has 20 goals and Sabres want a 1st + more for him, and Ryan freakin Reeves was traded for a 1st round pick lol, so Ferland can definitely be traded for a second)
Frolik for a 3rd + decent prospect
Stone for a 3rd round Pick
Versteeg for a 4th Round Pick
Stajan for a 6th Round Pick
Brouwer for a 6th or 7th Round Pick (We retain $1 million in salary for the next 2 years)
Fair or no?
Then we go hard after Tavares in the off season, and PERHAPS Kane if the price and term are right (around $6 mill x 5 years). As well and trying to trade for Stone using some of these replenished picks + picks we currently have + prospects

Definitely don't disagree with this at all. But I think Flames can either get more for Ferland, or keep him.
They can stay competitive right now in losing the other mentioned players with regaining picks/prospects.
Just hope Tre doesn't go all in trading quality assets for a mediocre goalie or 3rd line winger.
