RH Shot and the right age for this group with an edge to his game. I think he would be the perfect player for that line IMO.

I would offer Ferland, Fox and Gillies perhaps someone like Porier into that as well as sweetener.

Gallagher while an agitator is simply inconsistent game to game in the playoffs and Shaw is simply a grinder, so no to both.
Gallagher has 21 points in 40 playoff games, pretty decent considering who he has been saddled with. He is a heart and soul player who gets under the other teams skin and with Gaudreau feeding him the puck has is a shoo in for 30 goals a year. The Habs won't move him anyhow so it doesn't matter.

Oh yeah... what is fair market value for a top line winger at the trade deadline again

A inconstant roster player, a college kid that may or may not ever sign, a goalie who will likely never be a starter for the flames and an underachiever that will likely never have a fulltime spot on an NHL roster... Some would argue this isnt enough.

Your inconsistent roster player has stats which are equivalent to the guy you are trading for. Ferland is outscoring him this year. By 10 goals and 6 points.

Yeah I’m not sure how Gallagher is a top liner winger. He has a career high of 47 points.

Another way to spin it is we would be trading a forward playing at an identical pace as Gallagher, the top defense prospect in the entire NCAA, and a highly regarded goalie prospect.

I wouldn’t pay that for Gallagher. The grass isn’t always greener you know.

You would trade a 25 year old tough as nails Ferland who has 20 goals and 14 assists for the smaller Brendan Gallagher who is scoring at the same pace AND you want to throw in Fox and Gillies?

It's not like Gallagher is scoring while on the 4th line with scrubs. He plays with good players too in the Habs top 6.

If you argue Gallagher works harder than everyone, i'll give you that, but if him working harder than everyone only gets him as many points as a Ferland who only works hard 50% of the games, I think Ferland is the better player, who needs to find consistency. Not to mention Gallagher makes 2 times as much.

I like Gallagher, but i'm not trading Ferland straight up for him let alone throwing in sweeteners.

Not sure why Ferland gets such a bad rep from some on here. Sure he is inconsistent, but that's the case with every player under 25 on this roster with the exception of superstar Gaudreau. Even when Ferland is not playing well, he's still there to beat the crap out of anyone who does anything stupid. Better than saving a spot for a one dimensional goon.

Ferland has been performing better or about then same as gallagher this year. How is he more consistent than ferland?

Ferland is equal to Gallagher imo.

Adding anything on our end to that deal is overpayment.

I agree they're comparable players at this point, but Ferland has 20G + 14A, Gallagher has 21G + 15A.

Not sure where your 10G or 6 points are coming from. But they have near identical statlines. I'd still really like to add Gallagher to the roster, play him with Tkachuk and sit back and watch the fun.

You could probably get a deal done with Jankowski and some extras. Habs want a centremen.

Then put Tkachuck with Bennett and Gallagher. Most hated line in hockey.

My bad - came from AC's post which I clearly misunderstood.

Oops I see where I made a mistake. I forgot the "last year" on Gallagher's 2nd line of stats.

Listening to Friedman on with the morning show and he really doesn't think the flames are doing anything at the deadline. Ownership probably has no appetite to sell and treliving has nothing to use to buy. I'm predicting a rather quiet TDL for us

If there's one thing we know about how Treliving goes about his business , it's that all his trades are caught by the media last minute. The dudes a sniper in a ghillies suit.

Which was odd because in this week's 31 Thoughts podcast he thinks the Flames are pretty interested in a scoring winger (duh) and sees Treliving making a "sneaky trade".

That being said, Steinberg's changed his tune fully. He expected the Flames to be active last week, today he has done a 180 and thinks they're not doing anything.

His sneakiness pisses media guys off. But it terrifies me to think what he's gonna do unless it involves moving stone

Probably due to Ferlands injury, but Mangipane scratched tonight.

Throwing Poirier into that offer is just crazy talk.
