TFP says Flames are interested in Zuccarello, Shaw, and Grabner.

James Mirtle in a Twitter thread raving about Frederik Andersen's numbers says the Flames were heavily in on that trade scenario, and offered a better package than Toronto in terms of picks, but Anaheim chose to send Andersen to the East.
https://twitter.com/user/status/966154276262232065
For reference the trade was Andersen for a 2016 1st (30th overall via Pittsburgh = Sam Steel) + a 2017 2nd (Maxime Comtois).

I recall hearing the same thing around the time Andersen was traded. Understandable the Ducks didn't want to move him to the Flames.

Grabner, is he the new Sillinger?
Seems like every year he is a guy teams want, yet the teams that get him are always willing to move him later. Strange. Good hands and so fast.

5 years with NYI, 1 with TOR, 2 with NYR.
I'd take him in a heartbeat personally!

Grabner, a hundred times please and thank you.
Would be exactly what the doctor ordered for a team that needs some finish. Would be a shot in the arm to the 1st line, or 2nd line and PP. Gives us more speed, what's not to like.

I don’t see any reason to bring Shaw in unless Brouwer goes the other way. The FLames do not need $3+M forwards on the wing in the bottom 6.
Zuccarello while small is a solid player.

But another playmaker type.
What the team needs is a pure sniper.

Grabner can score goals AND he can freaking fly. Someone will want him because they should.

The team needs Hoffman. If they can get him, who knows.

Wonder what kind of price Saad would cost. More I think about it the more I'd like him on the Flames.

I remember when the Leafs made this deal I thought it was a horrible trade.
Leafs had just finished a season as the worst team in the NHL and now they were trading picks for a starting goalie...I didn't get it. I was all for Reimer being signed to a 3 year deal.
Seems to have worked out so far though...

I like both Zuccarello and Grabner.
Zuccarello has one more year at 4.5 mill
Seems reasonable.

Andrew Shaw would be good if his contract wasn't so ridiculous; say $2.5 instead of $3.9

It's unsurprising that Grabner is one of the more coveted rentals. I don't think the Flames will be able to compete with some of the packages being dangled by other teams, but it's reassuring that we're at least kicking a very good tire here.

Grabner is a better version of Paul Byron, which definitely wouldn't hurt this team

Also has to be a frontrunner for hockey's version of the Cy Young award:
25-6
(goal - assists)

I’m generally an advocate of selling, but Zuccarello would be my pick from these 3 players. He scores around 60 points per season. He drives play in the right direction against good opposition. His contract is not bloated or too long. The thing is I imagine he’s more expensive than Grabner or Shaw.
Grabner would be my 2nd choice because he scores goals while playing tough competition and mostly from the defensive zone.
Shaw is 26 not 30, but that contract sucks.
