There is little chance they are picking up Nilsson. He has another year on contract at $2.5 million. I could see ISlanders doing it though

I Agree with others that the Flames should be targeting Atkinson. He’s having a very down year but he’s a proven consistent 20 goal scorer and would be some nice added depth for our RW. I don’t think the cost would be too high. Doubt the Flames want all his salary tho. If the Flames want to be a playoff team with any hope to do more this year they need to land a top 6 forward. If they don’t, please try and get some picks at the deadline

Would hate to see Gillies moved for Nilsson when you could use that asset in the offseason to shore up some scoring woes.

Plus it leaves open the possibility that Gillies sinks the Flames 4 times a year.

If they trade for a goalie IMO it's not to replace Rittich, but more so to replace Gillies.

First on Flames... Still fairly clear they want a top-six scoring RW. No 1st or 2nd rounder in 2018, so will be tough to pursue someone like Zuccarello, but they’re weighing out multiple options

I think we all know the Flames are looking for scoring. Haven’t heard Zuccarello’s name before though.

Rumor on HF that the Canucks are interested in size on the wing so there was some speculation on Maroon since apparently they scouted the Oilers. If thatnis the case Brouwer could be an option for them.

If it was Brouwer+Gillies for Nilsson then the deal is alright. Hate to lose Gillies for such a short term move but if it allows us to get out of the Brouwer deal then it is worth it.

I also thought Brouwer for Ganger had some potential. Same term with Ganger making 1.35M less on the cap. Right shot could help on the PP?

Remember that rumor from the start of the season where that guy from Vancouver who breaks news every now and then (or whatever that mini meme became) suggested the Flames had a deal to move Brouwer. Was that to Vancouver or just news out of Vancouver?

It was Rick Dhaliwal and he is connected in Van he posted about the Gudbranson signing 2 days ago.

He did post something about a possible Troy Brouwer trade right around the start of the season and it didn’t pan out. I believe there was no consensus connection to the Canucks and some speculated he could benin the know because Brouwer is originally from Vancouver
