Probably not but if the Flames are bargain bin shopping he could be an option?
Personally I prefer they steer clear of the bargain bin unless a guy like Kane slips into that group (ie 3rd round pick or later)

And I will add to that. Leave anyone over the age of 27 where they are. This team needs younger players. So sick and tired of all the Hail Mary trades and acquisitions bringing in over the hill or playing for retirement vets!

So you would be angry if they traded for Mike Hoffman who is older than 27?

Uhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh?
He's outscoring Dougie this year. Haha.
I just listed nearly 20 very high picks and said that only one was better than Hamilton, it's not like I'm on hating on him here.. Seth Jones is younger and the far more important player on his fringe-playoff team. Take a look at Columbus. Seth Jones is second in scoring behind only Panarin's 47 points. Dougie Hamilton has the support of Gaudreau, Monahan, Tkachuk, Ferland, and Backlund. He's playing 25 minutes a night on that team, the difference in time is that he actually does see significant SH TOI over Dougie. And despite Werenski's amazing rookie season offensively, no one has ever said the 20 year old was the anchor defensively on that top pairing, it's Seth Jones, whereas you'll find many many many Flame fans say that Giordano is the anchor for Dougie.
I'm not underrating Dougie, my whole point of the post was to say how he's more valuable than a top 5 pick. I love Dougie, he's probably the last person I would trade on the Flames. It's just Flames fans underrating a young elite player on a different, unexciting team.
Jones is putting up the same offensive numbers on a worse offensive team, hes relied on more, he's better defensively, and he's younger. Other than the Flaming C on Dougie's chest, how is he better?

I personally think it’s pretty close and I could see an argument either way. Hamilton should be getting SH time imo, and definitely should have been getting more PP time all year. I also hate it when people point to Gio as propping up Dougie, just seems misguided. They feed off each other really well imo. But ya, Jones is an awesome player. We’d be lucky to have either one (and we are!)

The Dougie and Gio pairing reminds me of the Phaneuf and Hamrlik pairing back in 06. Dougie is the better offensive player and Gio is the solid all round defensive rock. He covers a lot of Dougie’s mistakes but in turn Dougie can jump in the rush and act like the 4th forward. He’s been hot lately and should just shoot from everywhere.
But I disagree that Dougie should be on the PK, he has his strengths and weaknesses and defending in tight is not one of his strengths. He’d likely take even more penalties than he already does which wouldn’t be any good. Maybe he can get there one day as he’s still young, but I definitely agree with decisions by both Hartley and Gulutzan to not use him on the PK.

Treliving should send a text to 30 GM's that just says "Brodie?"

I think I am convincing myself that Pageau is the guy that Tre goes after. RH center that can fill Stajan's spot next year. He can help Janko this year and he has that wild card playoff performance from last year that you can hope he can bring.

Dreger on that’s Hockey didn’t have much to say about the Flames other than they want to improve the team but do not want to give up any major assets to do it.
I think the Flames either pull offf a sneaky big deal or remain relatively quiet

I wouldn’t be mad at Pageau at all. We currently have a 4th liner riding shotgun on RW to two hopefully important pillars of our future. Pageau sliding in to that third line rw spot definitely strengthens it as he is an upper echelons 3rd liner with speed and skill and by trickle down, Hathaway pushes Lomberg/Klimchuk out of the lineup and strengthens that 4th line. Although my even more hopeful scenario would be an upgrade at 2RW that can push Frolik down to the third line and then Hathaway to the fourth.

Don’t really know anything about him but if he’s older than 27 is he the answer for more than a year or so?

I think flames will either trade a player away for a pick or stand pat.

Why are people suggesting that Valimaki is ready for the NHL? Guy has literally played zero games in pro yet with all games thus far in the WHL.

so that he can get here, play a few games, and then they can call him a bust and a waste of a pick.

People are getting a little crazy. A five for one deal? Three defensemen? Three of our top prospects? A deal like this is more likely to thrust the team into the dark ages again more so than catapult the team forward.

Every time I've watched Karlsson this season, he's been awful in his own end.
