So here's what I see. We have a few guys who skate hard, hit and try shooting the puck but it gets blocked allot.
So many passengers on this team, so much perimeter play, no follow up for rebounds, no screens, soft soft lazy plays, blind passes as no heart whatsoever......oh, and selfish penalties at crucial times during games.
I see 6 guys on this team busting their butts without support of their team mates.
Gio, Rittich, Hamonik, smith, Tkachuk , Johnny ......the rest are just collecting paycheques.
I've never seen this team play like this. Why? Coaching of special teams is abysmal.
A trade won't fix this. We have exceptional goaltending and no support for them.
Solutions.
Management needs to acknowledge NOW not tomorrow or the next day change has to come.
I'm so tired of the coaching carousel. The mental problems this team has are absolutely mystifying and have mystified all of our last 3 coaches as they have mentioned it , been puzzled by it.....yeah. 🙄
I hate this. It's about all I have to look forward to as far as things to look forward too are concerned.
The Flames didnt even deserve to be in this game after the 1st period and the only reason they were was because of him.
No shame, the Bruins are a good team on a good roll, but they appeared to dramatically outclass us. If nothing else we can be happy that we stuck with them all the way and stole a point, but I think this game clearly shows that if this team has greater aspirations than just not getting their asses handed to them then things have to change.

Flames had 8 shots on goal through half of the game. Not just Rask, but even the worst goalies in the league would have had a really decent saving percentage against 8 shots.

Was working so didn’t get to watch it all but Looks like it was a pretty even game in the end.
A 2-1 loss in OT where Flames had lots of their own chances to end it in OT.
Boston Dominated in the first, pretty even in the second, and Flames dominated in the third.
Shots were 32-29 Boston, Corsi 53-52 Boston, and high danger chances 14-10 boston with the entire difference coming in the first. Got a PP goal, and the PK was perfect.
Honestly just by looking at the outcome of the game and the stats it doesn’t feel that bad against a top 5 team in the league that was also coming off an embarrassing 4 goal loss.
Thread after thread, people say that Brodie is untouchable because Kulak would become out #4. There are many teams out there with a #4 who could be packaged in a potential Brodie trade. Oduya in Ottawa is playing first pairing minutes and is a UFA.
I like Brodie, and I think he will be a top 3 defenseman on any team willing to play him on the right side.
If Brodie is a whipping boy right now I can just imagine what people around here would say about Oduya.
I can’t belive the flack Brodie has been consistently getting around here. It seems to me like a lot of people are underestimating the value of a mobile top-4 D-man. Rag on him all you want after every game, but in a 2-1 OTL, it’s pretty tough to pinpoint one specific player, and a “coach or player” gone attitude seems a bit over dramatic. It wasn’t all that long ago he was on one of the top pairings in the league, had a 4 point night, or on the ice for one of Monnys OT winners.
I guess people see what they want to see, like a reason to bench Stajan for a season. I guess if you are watching for every mistake and discounting every positive action, sure

I'll agree with you in this instance.
Brodie has been brutal for most of this season but he does seem to have re-found his game of late and theres no way you can pin this loss on him.
Thats not to say anything great however, this loss is on a lot of guys collectively, but I think Brodie is deserving of something of a reprieve for the moment.

I thought it was a really fun game. I thought Lazar had another really strong game. You can tell he is starting to get his confidence back. Bennett also had a strong game with lots of good looks. No problem at all with Brodie's game today, thought he played well and had a play go against him. Thought the flames dominated OT. At this time of the years points, any points, are huge.
Are there Calgary residents (won't call them fans)that buy season tickets solely for the purpose of selling them to opposing team's fans? It gets so disheartening seeing so many Leafs/Habs/Canucks/Coil/Bruins jerseys in the lower bowl and having them appear ( I know, I know, Sportsnet crappy audio) louder than the home crowd. When Marchand scored it sounded on tv like the game was in Boston.
41 home games year. You'd be silly not to take the big bucks when you can.

So what happens if we bring in any other Defenseman and he doesn’t have any chemistry with his partner and/or can’t adjust to the team’s system? What’s the likelihood that we make the playoffs then? Unlikely. Every move has a risk attached to it and moving such a crucial position right now would screw a lot of things up.
It would make more sense to trade Brodie in the offseason. Even then I doubt it because there’s a very obvious succession plan in place with Valimaki who will likely need at least 1 year in the minors.
It's only 5 teams, really - Edmobton, Vancouver, Montreal, Boston and Detroit, that attract a lot of fans to Calgary games. The first two are due to the geography. The latter three are ... whatever. Boston fans are probably the most obnoxious of the group though.

.500 team. I can't remember a Flame that's been instrumental in so many losses like Brodie has this season. Something has to be done. I could handle seeing him with a new coaching staff but if Gulutzan is back Brodie needs to go.
Honestly Brodie + out and Hoffman in would be killing two huge birds with one stone. That would be the absolutely best scenario deal at TD.
I'd be fine with Brodie if our offense could produce effectively enough to be able to afford the defensive gaffes. But right now, it can't. We've got to shed the liabilities and add finishing ability.

That's not how save % works. In this scenario, a goaltender would have either a really great or really bad save %. There's no in between.
