I was making a comment in response to us clearly NOT being outchanced by a 3 to 1 margin.

If you can trade Brodie for a scoring winger, I will drive to Calgary myself to take him to the airport.

You can Brodie or you can have this coaching staff. You can't have both.

Trade Brodie for some help up front.
And play Kulak in the top 4 and Bartkowski every game? Not going to happen and everyone needs to get that in their heads. Both Treliving and Gulutzan are not interested in playing young defensemen above their weight class.

Brodie had a great game I thought, just makes a high risk / high reward pass in OT that lead to the game winner. If that pass gets through its probably a Flames winner, that's pretty much how 3 on 3 works.

They need to unlock some offense from within the org (if not trading for outside help). Tkachuk and Bennett seem to play with some extra zip when they are together (that shift in OT they were electric).

Even though the 3M is good- I think there is more offensive potential in Jankowski - Bennett than in Backlund-Frolik.

You put Tkachuk on that line and you get more goals - even if Backlund's line will get more TOI because of the shutdown matchups.

The duos that really spark are Gaudreau-Monahan, Tkachuk-Bennett, Backlund-Frolik. If you can get Grabner for Backlund's line that would be ideal or you put one of Lazar, Brouwer, Versteeg with Backs.

It's not weakening the second line to make the third line better. It's maximizing the goal generation through your lineup.

To me the Bennett-Tkachuk chemistry is pretty undeniable right now. Jankowski complements them well with his sound two way game.

I thought the flames looked pretty mediocre. Generated a few chances, gave up a TON of odd man chances and break aways.

Shouldn't be upset. Flames a pretty average team. Average forwards other than Gaudreau, average defence that's not great defensively, not good offensively.

Lost to a better team.

I don't understand why folks are so excited about the Backlund extension. He's looked pretty average all season, especially the last month or so. I get that the flames don't have a better option but this team is barely a playoff team, winning one series is a pipe dream, let alone 4. I feel it's a classic case of loving your own players too much. If he was such a great second line center, then this team should be amazing. Strong second line on top of a first class top line with Gaudreau having an unreal the season. That's not the case.

Mediocre franchise, continues to be mediocre. The game style, play the puck back to ur dmen in ur own zone, then slowly make ur way up the ice with low probability chip inside and plays is annoying to watch.

Meh, go Flames go.....

I forgot there are no call ups or other trade options and that Kulak and Bartowski are the only options for the Flames. Nevermind.

I want to see Kylington badly but I'm not sure Stone or Hamonic can carry Kylington until he gets his footing in the NHL. Because that's who's next in line from the farm for LHD.

Are there Calgary residents (won't call them fans)that buy season tickets solely for the purpose of selling them to opposing team's fans? It gets so disheartening seeing so many Leafs/Habs/Canucks/Coil/Bruins jerseys in the lower bowl and having them appear ( I know, I know, Sportsnet crappy audio) louder than the home crowd. When Marchand scored it sounded on tv like the game was in Boston.

Y do people want to see kylington up with the flames??

I don't see any real use of strong skating, puck moving dmen that can join the rush. Flames style doesn't really need or value those.

What's the high reward you speak of though?

On TV it looked like a pretty lazy, ho hum attempt that had a big chance of being knocked away like it was. OT is all about puck possession with high danger chances or a circle back.

Took the kids swimming today so we PVR'd the game. My wife didn't realize she needed to add on extra time. So the recording stopped with 5 minutes left to play. I don't know what is more frustrating. Not seeing the entire game, or the Flames losing in OT at home.

Lot of sarcasm going on here. But inserting Kylington or Rasmus Andersson who have 3 combined NHL games into the line up in probably the most important stretch of the season could be disastrous. People want to trade Brodie because of the mistakes he’s made this season, do people just expect rookie defensemen to jump into the NHL and play mistake free hockey or something? This isn’t NHL 18 or some kind of video game. The amount of mistakes that Kulak, Andersson or Kylington will likely make being played so far up into the line up will probably make people’s head spin.

Been there before. Hate when that happens.

Another game another TJ Brodie turnover results in a instant scroring chance against, goal against, gwg against. Brodie is becoming a sure bet to cost the Flames over and over. I am growing tired of his act and he is far and away the least physical D man on the team.

Thread after thread, people say that Brodie is untouchable because Kulak would become out #4. There are many teams out there with a #4 who could be packaged in a potential Brodie trade. Oduya in Ottawa is playing first pairing minutes and is a UFA.

I like Brodie, and I think he will be a top 3 defenseman on any team willing to play him on the right side.

Yeah.

If people are this hard on Brodie, Kylingtons game would make heads simply explode.

That said, not sure why Brodie was trying to make a pass through two players like that. Johnny and Monahan were set ready for any rebound. Looked like the right time to get a shot on net.
