Lazar is awful. He may be giving some people hope based on a brutal misplay by Lundquist, a fortunate deflection, and a disallowed goal, but 40 plus awful games and a few flukes aren’t representative of a good player, they are luck evening out.

Fix Jagr’s knee and concussion because there is a lot of dead weight here.
Disagree with this. Lazar has been playing 1000% better the last couple weeks. Everyone has luck sometimes but you usually get lucky when you are working harder than the opposition.

Wow, even 1-1 after the first period flattered the Flames.

Large egg laid at home again with Da Brunz coming to town after a bad loss, and an afternoon game... I fear a complete meltdown of CP coming with the team and coaching staff running the same $hi! up the flagpole and thinking it will look pretty.

Terrible effort at home, what else can you say?

A confident and surging Panthers team surprised a Flames team that didn't take them seriously enough. Flames play down to their competition level yet again. And weird lack of focus at home continues.

Not too worried because all teams have stinkers. We'll know more about the mental state of this team when they play Boston next. I'm sure they'll have some revenge on their mind. Let's hope they come out with a strong focus next game.

I know nobody cares about this, but the Panthers still have an outside shot at the playoffs with this hot streak they're on. 6 points out of a spot with 5 games in hand (yes 5) and a couple of teams ahead of them. It could happen with Luongo back after missing more than 2 months. There is hope with the way they are playing lately.

Great penalties taken by the Flames all night.

The dome used to be one of the toughest places for opposing teams to come. How can a team be such road warriors and awful at home?

Is there any update on Smith and how he is doing?

I thought the flames came out flying and put lots of pressure on. That first Florida goal seemed to suck the energy out of the team and while they tied the game at one you had the sense that the flames couldn't quite get it back together. That first goal totally fired up Florida .

If one bad goal is all it takes to throw off the Flames, they won’t go very far.

There are lots of bad/lucky goals scored.

How in the world would the Flames not take any NHL team seriously??

The Panthers come into town 7-1 in their last 8 games and leave 8-1.

Did the Flames brain thrust not have time to check out how the Panthers were playing since the last time the Flames beat them?

Boston got spanked by the Canucks last night. This looks like an easy 2 pts for the Flames?

I think a big part is the dome isn't an intimidating place to play anymore. There are games that the fans will get up for, but for the most part they are waiting for something to happen to cheer or wait till the jumbo tron tells them. When this place was a hard place to play, the crowd didn't wait for something to happen to cheer. Just my observations from being at the dome the last 20 years. In the hay day I think the team fed off that, now it seems like both crowd and team are waiting for something to happen. It definitely doesn't help things when you Oiler the first shot.

I also think that at home they just aren't getting the bounces they are on the road. I think a bunch of the goals against are coming after the Flames fail to capitalize on their chance. It is the whole big save at one end creates a chance at the other thing.

Before the game I heard a couple interviews with coaches and players and they broke down their home and away games and they actually get more chances at home then away, they just need to finish better at home. Instead it snowballs and keeps teams in the game.

I'm getting a little worried. Really this team since the losing streak ended has reverted back to the win one, lose one, win two, lose two, .500 hockey that has plagued this team for the last two seasons. If they don't have another 6+ game winning streak in the remainder of the schedule it's hard to imagine them being able to make the playoffs.

They looked at times last night, like they've never played on the same ice as a group together before. Guys not knowing where to go, where to pass to, or who should play the puck. It was really weird.

Missed the first two fights last night (unfortunately I caught the 3rd- ouch) so was just watching them on hockey fights.com. Noticed James Reimer was the guy chirping the most on the bench at hathaway after the fight. A back-up goalie mouthing off- that's like the place kicker yelling at the D-line..... sit down cream-puff. Hope Reimer starts if we play these guys again and we see how tough he is with hathaway in his face.

During the playoffs the Dome is arguably one of the loudest buildings in the league, so if by some chance they do end up with home ice advantage, I'm not too worried about it. Whatever the case, they just need to get in.

Giving up a goal on the first shot on net is never how you want to start.

Ugly, ugly game

That's part of the problem. Maybe the fans need to ratchet it up sooner than the playoffs.
They've got a docile coach and a docile crowd and we sit here and wonder why they play like sleepy slobs at home?
Some on here were knocking Nashville the other day calling their crowd a "novelty" sheesh. They bring it every home game. You know what's a novelty? A crowd that becomes raucous for 3 playoff games a year.
Sorry if truth hurts.

Nashville fans are ten times better than Flames fans, it's not even close, it's such a lift for the players. What an experience compared to the Saddledome.

The crowd is waiting for something to cheer for. This team plays like a steaming pile of dog #### at home. Hard to get excited for that. The crowd was wanting to get into it last night, but by halfway through the second period their only ambition was to get home early.

These home games are ridiculous. Strongly considering giving up my season tickets this year. Too much money and too much of a time commitment to not be entertained in the slightest. That can be said for quite a few of the other season ticket holders in my section. People are starting to have had enough. Not sure if they picked it up in tv last night, but those who were left booed the team off the ice last night and rightfully so. I tried to leave early, to beat the rush but the rush started with ten minutes left in the third so I just finished the game and walked right out and my DD (wife)drove out of the parking lot with zero congestion.
