I think the sens are dumb enough to trade Stone. He will want a big raise and they need to save money, especially if they want to keep Karlsson. GO BIG!

Even Bobby Ryan with $2,000,000 retained would save the Sens $13,000,000
Ryan with a $5,250,000 cap hit wouldn't be so bad would it?

Gain a bunch of high quality prospects (priority being the prospects) and some picks. Go very young with Duchene and Stone as the cornerstones up front.

Tough to do when you moved a first out in duchene deal. Can see them keeping karlsson duchene and Hoffman to maintain some competitiveness. Write this year off as a one off and hope that the team bounces back. If anything, Stone might be one to go as melnyk May not pay him as rfa.

I can see the Flames ending up with Domi. Treliving knows who he would be getting and he is very young and probably won’t cost nearly as much as Hoffman

Domi doesn't help much. Hoffman is a sniper and can help on the PP. Two different players really.

Yes it would. Have you seen his stats? He's been on a steady decline and is rounding into a 30-45 point player. At 30 he's not going to get better either.

In a bubble sure, but in my scenario he'd be replacing 32 year old Brouwer and he's a clear upgrade especially for a team starving for offense.

FWIW McKenzie said Arizona is asking for a lot for Domi. They aren't selling low on him. Kind of implied they are looking to get a return that matches his potential and not a low offer a struggling player usually gets.

Look at the big picture. He's not that much of an upgrade that it's worth taking on four years. You are correct the Flames are starving for offense but Ryan is not the answer to that as we have a team full of players already with less than 10 goals to which he fits right in.

People tend to get caught up in the stat line. The reason that Ryan hasn't been producing is injury related, not because his talent has diminished that much.
Trading for him has more to do with doctors reports than with point production.

The 1st is conditional I believe, so it’ll be the ‘19 1st.

Understood but if you tank next year, you could be giving up another lottery pick. They should strip it to studs but that could really benefit Colorado as they would get high pick in 2019.

I think they intend to keep him and are probably steadfast about that.
However a few people have tried to forbid discussing it because it's such a non starter and that doesn't take into account one unknown variable:
There's a chance Stone tells them it's a gong show there and doesn't intend to sign.
I think that's unlikely, but it's still a possibility.

I'd love to see Okposo come in at the deadline to help on PP and improve depth on RH side. Not sure what the cost would be on him though. Doesn't seem to be doing great in Buffalo and was brought in there for free and has an expensive cap hit...so maybe more affordable than we think?
I wonder if Kulak+goalie or Stone+goalie might be enough. Would also free up room for Andersson.

If the sens retain half of Ryan, I'm interested.

I don't believe there is any chance in hell that Brouwer would waive to go to Ottawa. I don't think any player in the league waives their NTC if the landing spot is Ottawa.

With Dion out of Ottawa I wonder if the Sens would be in the market for a vet dman to fill that hole? Would Stone waive his NTC to go play with his Brother?
If Treliving could put together a package of Stone or Brodie plus a prospect/pick for Hoffman I would be game. Once everyone is healthy I think we would have a much better depth in our bottom 6.
Gaudreau - Monahan - Hoffman
Tkachuk - Backlund - Frolik
Bennett - Jankowski - Ferland
Versteeg - Stajan - Brouwer
Giordano - Hamilton
Brodie/Stone - Hamonic
Anderson - Kulak
Smith
If Brodie/Stone refuse to waive to go to Ottawa you could move Hamilton straight up for Hoffman and hope Brodie can find his game again with Giordano. I don't really want to move Hamilton but you got to give to get.
