Boston won this game because they’re way deeper on forwards, they hound pucks without taking dumb penalties like our team and wow are they fast. We could barely keep up and they forced a ton of turnovers with their relentless forecheck. Our team was just overmatched by quite possibly the soon to be, best team in the league.

We are weak, other teams know it, they get under our skin and we don't fight back. A few games ago Johnny gets laid out hard two games in a row and no one reacts. It seems like something is missing from this team. I wish we had Engelland still.
Hamonic laid Marchand for his tap on Rittich, the guy is always standing up for his team-mates. What a beauty.

Win in a tough Nashville it’s a very good 4-2 road trip. Lose and it’s basically subpar .500 trip. Big game.

Frolik is in a real funk since he got back, assist on the Vegas winner, part of a debacle that eventually led to a Smith Injury & offensive penalty that led to the game winning goal. Not the type of hat trick the Flames need from this guy. Three strikes your out for a game, I would say.

Mentioned before but Boston is probably one of the favorites to end up in the Eastern Conference finals at least.

As much as I'd like to say, work on x issue and get back to it next game, I don't know how the PP is going to get significantly better all of a sudden.

No surprise here. Flames are a step below the upper echelon. Not expecting a win against Nashville either.

Hard to call a .500 road trip subpar

Playing the 2 best teams in the NHL IMO

It's hard to win when you only show up for the first 20. Boston or not they need to give a better effort than that.

Debacle? He missed the net. That's not a debacle. The Oilers are a debacle.

Of monumental proportions.

I dont know. They've played Nashville pretty damn well in recent times.

Just caught the end of the third and the post game wrap up.

Jason York singled out Hathaway's 9 hits in under 12 minutes of icetime. Then he pointed to the PowerPlay and said he figured this cost us the game.

We get these guys again in 6 days. Going to need a better effort, especially from Backlund, Frolik, and the blue line.

Thought the PP showed some early promise but got stale as the game went on. Boston adjusted and was able to keep momentum.

Hopefully Rittich can bounce back as well — didn’t play badly but we need to keep his confidence up.

Oh how right you are. Too many of our leaders play like soft wimps. Hamilton, Brody, Monahan, Johnny, Frolik, Backlund, Janko(big but plays small) and Burke or Treliving needs to be fired for letting this talent be wasted with a head coach that I have never even seen talk to a player during a game. For####ssake I think I even saw Boston's coach showing Patrice Bergeron(one of the best players in the league) something on the ipad in the third period after they had a 2 point lead.

This is a great post and I fully agree.

The Flames failed to covert on one of their PPs that could have stretched the game to a two or three goal lead. Boston got their fourth crack at one early in the third and buried it, game over.

If this team’s special teams won them games a little more consistently, they could be right there with some of the elite teams. They need to get their combined PP/PK percentage over 100. Currently it’s at about 97% which isn’t great.

I can live with that effort. I was hoping that with Boston losing to Buffalo that they would be a bit vulnerable... But that was not the case. My biggest take away was that GG started every period with the 3M line and it almost led to a goal in all 3 periods. Rittich was really good and deserved better. Stone and Hamonic have very little finesse to their game.

True, but Hamonic's pass to Stajan for Stajan's goal against the Blackhawks was pretty sweet.

We are a good road team. Didn't expect to win this one in the Town however. They are really good.

If we are going to make the playoffs, we need to do the following:

1. Improve our home record.

2. Find power play success.

Can we? Not sure. How long have we been harping on the failure that is our PP?
