JVR, Komarov and Bozak? Although the Leafs insist they aren't moving JVR even if he remains unsigned. Leivo? But of course, you can't scout him if they don't play him.

According to Lebrun the Sens want a 1st round pick, top prospect and 3rd piece for Brassard.
no thanks!

How many teams out there would even be interested in paying for the premium deadline pickups this season? We've had so many who have bought hard and often in the last few years I'd have to imagine lots of teams are wanting to keep their top 60 picks.

Boston maybe? They've got picks and prospects and it's looking more like it could be a deep run for them in a soft Eastern conference. St Louis might be inclined to buy since they technically did some selling last season and they still have their picks... Vegas is the interesting one because of their list of assets. Picks coming out the wall but also a lot of uncertainty past this season.

And of course Tampa Bay. Things haven't been great lately for them but between having a solid young core, a perfect window and all their picks, you'd have to think they'll end up on one of the many premier deadline targets.

Not a whole lot of appetite in my opinion.

Yeah...thats a hard no for sure.

Though, like any negotiation, this may just be the first volley.

Feels like the Sens are trying REALLY hard to undo some of the damage they suffered in the Duchene deal.

You just have to figure the plan is to land a fairly impactful forward upgrade somehow and someway if the cost isn't overly high.

This team with 3 threatening lines and a more dangerous shot on the power-play could take the next step from looking solid to a real contender.

It’s hard to trade your way out of a bad trade. Maybe they’re desperate and BT can take advantage.

Don’t over pay for anything on Ottawa, they are desperate right now and teams know they want to accumulate as much as they can for certain players who they don’t want for the future. Good luck Sens but that is a crazy overpayment for Brassard and I think he’s a very good player.

I’ve heard Flames are scouting zack smith. I sincerely hope they refrain. 3.25mil for bottom 6 is way too much. His best season is roughly .5 ppg, and that was playing on the top line. Also we have no picks I want to trade.

The only way I would want this is if Ottawa takes Brouwer straight up. Even then probably not

This was debunked by Friedman

Bennett - Jankowski - Duclair
Hathaway - Stajan - Brouwer

Teams not making the playoffs tend to trade pending UFA’s, not young skilled players with controllable contracts.

If Calgary falls out if the playoff race, are they looking to move Janko cheaply?

Pretty sure Garrioch was the origin of that rumor but you are correct Friedman went on Calgary radio and stoked the fire then pouring water on it a couple hours later on Edmonton radio.

I could see the Flames having interest in Hoffman, Brassard, Pageau, Karlsson or basically all the top players on the Sens but not their lower end guys

One of these is not like the other.

Also easy to say interested but what do you give up in order to get those guys even if you are willing to move an Andersson or a Fox.

I would like to add this to the Tavares discussion. Johnny Gaudreau is a free agent in four more years. There are not many opportunities to land a player like John Tavares. Signing him sends a message to Johnny that the team is all-in on the Stanley Cup, and will pay him $12+ when the time comes.

The Flames would also protect themselves in the event Gaudreau decides he just really wants to play for the Flyers when he's 28. They'd have Tavares, Monahan, and a 23-year old Matthew Tkachuk.

Food for thought, lacking vegetables.

Makes you wonder what you could get for Backlund? I'd assume around the same.

Might be time for the Hawks to rebuild.

Flames should trade for Patrick Kane.

Could you imagine him and Gaudreau on the same line?

Or even just the same team.

Jeebus.
