It's funny how only a few posters have picked up on how bad Backlund was tonight but it's just sexier to pick on the whipping boys.

I don't get this argument. The league is moving to a much more youth dependent system, between paying your top guys top end dollars and filling out everything else with ELCs and cheaper options.

Please do not trade for any winger this deadline. They are not one guy away from being a good hockey team.

That's quite the 3rd line we have with a 50pt pace center and almost 60 pace pt winger.

Yes, but as of now, they're very much still in the hunt.

Good for Kulak and Lazar to get the monkeys off their backs. Fourth line has been pretty good lately. Lomberg is doing good work.

Really wasn't. That's called 99/100 times. Bennett is just stuck in junior mentality where he was bigger and stronger than other people. Does not have NHL IQ

The 2nd line is all Tkachuk at this point. Frolik is a passenger on that line and Backlund is a 2-way center who won't hit 50 points again.

I know I'm going to be bashed for this but there are only 3 actually good offensive forwards on this team (Gaudreau, Monahan, Tkachuk).
Backlund and Frolik are 3rd liners on a cup contending team. Bennett, Jankowski played well for a dozen games this year, and have completely disappeared.
If the gm actually believes this team is one winger away, I'm going to be pissed.

Are you suggesting the Flames concede the two points to the Isles based on the Isles and Flames performances tonight?
That’s not how it works.

And then a couple of seasons later, people here will moan and groan, and say wish we've drafted a player like Bennett...oh, nvm.....

They lost a hockey game by one goal. it was far from a no show.
Losses happen.
But keep on comparing whatever your work is to professional sports. Good look on you.

Thoughts on whether the second goal for Rags was goalie interference? Looked like it to me, Smith and Gio seemed to be talking about it but there was no challenge available.
Needed Smith to chase and bump the refs like Lunquvist did to change the call on the ice.
Also, 6 on 4 at end almost had too many Flames on the ice, not the PP was running great to begin with, but with thet extra guy in front of net or the slot it gets more congested.

I guess so. It pissed me off that the refs looked at the Flames goal without the Rangers challenging but not that goal.

I usually agree with you on many points, but you're making Bennett out to be an18-year old kid who has just joined the club. You can't defend him like that anymore. Gaudreau, Monahan, Tkatchuk, and Ferland went thru that age as well. Take the loss and move on.

I don't think Smith would be shy about causing a fuss if he thought it was an illegal goal.
