I wouldclove Hoffman, but I bet Ottawa would be looking at some combination of Sam Bennett, Rasmus Anderson, Gillies and a pick. It’ll take a lot.

They can have that... for Stone.
If not they can pound sand if the asking price on Hoffman is anywhere near that.

That's fine, I'm just saying I wouldn't be interested in Hoffman at a hefty price, which is what I'd consider 3 of those 4 assets.

Nice clip of Hoffman and Josi in a race in overtime tonight.
Yeah I wouldn't mind the guy.

I keep hearing more and more that Kevin Hayes is available and I believe that he might be a good fit, for the following reasons:
- He's a natural right winger, but can play Center if needed.
- He played his college career as a RW beside Johnny, so he could stay as 3rd line RW or move up the line up as needed
- He's big, can move, and has good finish, had 49 points last year on the 3rd line
He can probably be had for a good AHL prospect and a late round pick, unless a bigger deal is worked.
Overall not a splashy deal, but something along the lines of what Tre would pull....

Not to mention I don't think we have a single guy who on a break away who can slide it away as calm as that.
Poise. Speed. I like it.

Yup I agree I see Hayes here either trade deadline or in the summer.

Hayes would be a great add for Calgary. He had great chemistry with Gaudreau, has size, is versatile, has a good shot, and is good on the power play (are you listening, Brad?).
The only fly in the ointment? He shoots left, and we all know how GG feels about putting players with a left shot on the right side.
I would offer Kylington and a 7th (might be a bit of a lowball, but worth a try). The Rangers are looking to get younger and faster, and he checks both of those boxes.

Originally I wasn't too hung up on the junior chemistry Johnny and Hayes had but they have looked dynamite together for Team USA the last time they played together.
Hayes has played more Centre than RW as a pro and has been somewhat inconsistent. He's also another guy you watch and wish he was a bit meaner / used his size better (and another left handed shot).
But his chemistry with Johnny is for real.
Would be interesting at the right price for sure.

You mean Kevin Hayes, the guy who shoots left, has underperformed most of his NHL career, has only collected 4 points since Christmas, one PP point on the season and his career high in points are basically no better than Brouwer's?
He better come cheap.

Kylington and a 7th? What is the 7th for? What gm is going to be on the fence about kylington straight up but then goes, “a 7th? You’ll add in a 7th? Say no more where do I sign?!?!”

If he's still on the fence after a 7th you just slide him some future considerations to tip the scale in your favour

Classic case of buying low. And you can't compare career highs of a 32-year old with the career highs of a 25-year old who went the college route.
FWIW, the reason I specified a 7th was that I like what we've been doing with our 4th-6th round drafts recently. The offer of a pick is an acknowledgement that you are trading a prospect for a roster player, so adding a little something may be in order.

And to add, Hayes as a replacement for Ferland, who is on pace for close to 30 goals as the top line RW.

Stanbo has announced that (surprise) the 'Hawks will NOT be buyers at the deadline this year. They will stay the course of developing the youth that they have.
