The question in and of itself is ridiculous. It's a small group of posters that parrot the notion, and the biggest frequenter is strangely silent since we've put together a few more wins. I'm sure he'll be back with the same tired drive-by comments the next time we have a loss though. If Monny goes scoreless I'm sure it will be brought up again before long.
The rate at which Monahan seems to bang in game winners is amazing. Between that and his hair, he's a true hero.

I prob put him in the 14-18 range right now with a very good chance to crack the top 10 in the next 3 years.

Luckily for the Flames his career should carry on for quite a bit!

He has a great ability to get a quick shot off at times when the puck is bouncing or just landing... That first goal tonight was a beauty

And that one knee celebration was tight.

Monny is only 23. A sniper. Gets the tough garbage goals. Clutch. What more could we want. Next captain!!!

Do you have 14 NHL centres currently ranked ahead of Monahan?
Who are they?
Stamkos
Tavares
Kopitar
McDavid
Crosby
Malkin
Backström
Getzlaf
Seguin
Scheifele?
MacKinnon?
...who am I missing?

Only one I can think of is Patrice Bergeron.

He’s similar to Johansen and Draisaitl although I’d take Drai over him and I’d take Sean over RyJo

You should preface your take by adding you're a prominent member of Team "this team won't win it all with Monahan as our 1C"
Monahan > Draisitil every day of the week and twice on Sunday.

Draisaitl ahead of Monahan? That’s absurd.
The only reason that guy puts up the numbers he does is because of McDavid. It’s a joke he got 8.5M a year after one solid season.

The same could be said about Monahan and Gaudreau.... Monahan doesn't carry a line on his own either.
At the very least, they are bith very close imo

The only reason Monahan doesn’t get more love is because he’s not flashy. He has better career numbers than Mackinnon but most people would take Mack because of the wow factor, plain and simple.

Quite frankly Monahan is probably better defensively than both McDavid and Draisaitl.

Better career numbers? Mackinnon has 1 more point in 20-30 fewer games..

I thought he did just fine when Gaudreau was out. Why do you say he doesn't carry a line?

I like Drai’s game more. Tremendous passer of the puck, strong as an ox and ferocious on the cycle. Not afraid to throw his body around and he has pretty good acceleration for such a heavy dude. He really made me a fan during the Anaheim series last year. I just think he is more talented than Sean.

Maybe Drai.. bur when is the last time Monahan was killing penalties? McDavid is a really good player. I guess we just have different opinions.
