I'm not sure I agree with you guys that Brouwer has been playing great lately. He was ok to average with Backlund but since then has been a black hole again. I can't stand him on that line with Bennett, we need someone with wheels and heart.

5 on 5, for sure, but Hathaway is already an important penalty killer for this team. Hard to pull him out for that reason alone.

If they insist putting Brouwer on that 3rd line (ugh)

I'd rather see:

Lomberg - Lazar - Hathaway

rolled out on the 4th line for a game. That would be a lot of tenacity.

Put Bennett-Jankowski-Hathaway back together, they had great chemistry for a while. Move Brouwer down to the fourth line. Lazar looked ok recently but just can't finish. He's fourth line or out of the lineup IMO.

What games have you guys been watching???
Brouwer has been much more effective than Hathaway lately.
Brouwer is exactly where he belongs.

Good news: Lomberg looked good in his last start. Excited to see Lomberg get another game.
Bad news: Brouwer on the 3rd line. As pointed out in the Bennett thread, Bennett and Brouwer should not be a thing.

Has Tkachuk played much on his off wing? Maybe they should consider swapping Tkachuk and Brouwer for a bit. Perhaps Tkachuk can elevate Janko/Bennett to a greater extent than Brouwer depresses Backlund/Frolik (Brouwer looked already playing alongside Backlund for a bit there). Could always double-shift Tkachuk back onto 3M every once in a while to keep Brouwer's minutes down.

Sorry, that’s way too logical for GG’s liking.

I wish we were seeing:

Gaudreau - Monahan - Ferland
Tkachuk - Backlund - Frolik
Bennett - Jankowski - Hathaway
Lomberg - Stajan - Lazar

I’m just tired of seeing Brouwer play. The game has left him behind.

Lomberg and Hathaway should be fun. I'd like to see this combo against Pacific teams more often going forward.

Hopefully, the Flames can get off to a quick start tonight, the Devils fans can get a little ugly...

I wish we were seeing:

Johnny, Gio, Backlund and Frolik in PyeongChang.

Sorry, but I don’t see the logic in that. Why disrupt one of the most dominant, possession lines in the league? To hope your third line gets a little better?

I don’t see the logic in putting Brouwer in a role where he gets the majority of defensive zone starts.

Making the second line, who plays against the number one line of the opposition, weaker by removing Tkachuk and inserting Brouwer isn't logical. When Brouwer was on that line he was playing with both Tkachuk and Backlund, so it's a different situation.

Plus you are making a player switch sides. Not as big a deal for a forward, but still harder to protect the puck and pick up pucks around the boards.
