Though viewership was down from last year, i think the NFL is doing OK.

Quote:
With 103.4 million watching, last night’s game on NBC from Minneapolis is down 7% from the total set of network eyeballs from the 2017 Super Bowl.

Adding another 2.6 million viewers via NBCSports.com, the NBC Sports app, NBC.com TV Everywhere, Universo, En Vivo app, NFL.com, NFL Mobile from Verizon, the Yahoo Sports app, and go90, the Comcast-owned network says its absolute total viewership of 106 million.

Last night’s Super Bowl is now pegged as the 10th most watch program in American TV history

I think it helped that after I couldn't get PayPal to work I walked with her to an ATM and tried every card I had on me. Also she didn't have time to try and sell it again and it sounded like she needed the money.

Drafting is still very difficult to do

But the third round talent stuff is coming from where?
Alex Smith and Aaron Rodgers were both in contention to go #1 overall. Rodgers was absolutely rated near the top 10 (and was considered top five), that's why ESPN spent the whole draft humiliating him by cutting to him in the green room after every single pick as the only guy left. So maybe Packer fans owe ESPN for embarrassing Rodgers, perhaps it's what motivated him to greatness. Brady going in the sixth, Wilson going in the third, Romo undrafted, it does happen. But that's the point, teams didn't use to reach for guys like they do now. But teams can't afford to wait anymore, they have to go early and reach or the guy they may want won't be there when they pick again. When it comes to QB, teams are now far more willing to reach on need versus draft for BPA.

Allen as a third round pick is that he's basically a project. Those players used to be third to fifth round picks, because in the first three rounds (or day one as it used to be known) you're looking for starters or guys who will be rotation players immediately. But now with QB desperation, a guy like Allen, who if he played on opening day would be virtually guaranteed to be out of the league in three years, very well may get thrown into that fire. It's tough to ignore how desperate teams are (and it's also tough to undersell the value of the fifth year option for first rounders).

Also, the Eagles might have no choice but to trade Foles, they are tight against the cap and Foles is making almost as much as Wentz is ($7.5 million next year).

Out of the thousands of people selling tickets you hit maybe the only one willing to take an IOU from a stranger. I don't think you realize how low the chances of that are happening. Great story though and something you will be able to look back on for the rest of your life.

It really is amazing she took the IOU but I guess it was a situation where she was running out of options.

I don't know that watching a stranger have all their cards declined at an ATM would give exactly give me confidence that I'd get money from them

If you had a budget for $2k for a ticket shouldn't you have brought $2k cash down to the US with you?

No, because I really didn't want to carry that much cash on me. My plan was to use PayPal from the get go but I didn't realize I hadn't updated the thing in ages. I guess because most of the purchases I make with it are so small, they never really care to do a security check.

Anyhoo, just successfully sent her the money. The good news is that because of how well I did gambling on football this year, my winnings basically covered half of the ticket cost.

Maybe she murdered the original owner of the ticket, and she was all too happy to get whatever money she could before she took the plane to Mexico.

Rube, you could very well have blood on your hands here.

One of the biggest NFL stunners in recent memory. Has to mean Belichick is done. If not this year, not certainly next.

Sure hope he gets the NE job after Hoodie retires because who the hell would trust him now? Didn’t Indy announce him as their coach earlier today?

Edit: Also we need a 2018-2019 offseason thread so as not to besmirch the good name of the 2018 WORLD CHAMPION PHILADELPHIA EAGLES with more New England crap.

Rumor mill was saying a few days ago Schiano was gonna become DC with the head coach in waiting title. Either way McDaniels will never get another chance again so he'd better hope he's right here.

Starting to think there was some truth to the rumours surrounding the Pats this year.

Feels like Kraft being vindictive towards the Colts.

Sounds like according to ESPN reports it has nothing to do with Belichick leaving and that the Pats made a big push for him to stay as well his family is rooted in Boston. I imagine Kraft would prefer McDaniels take over the franchise than Schiano. It would have been difficult to replace both coordinators in one offseason as I feel part of the Patriots success is that from year to year the program never changes so players go to camp knowing what's expected of them and what camp will be like. It does appear that Belichick's time in New England is coming to a close in the next few seasons.

Colts get screwed big time here as they are going to have to start a late coaching search after believing they had their guy. Now they are going to have to settle for a coach which is not great.

Based off how McDaniels handled this, it mostly feels like the Colts dodged a bullet. He was a bad coach and not emotionally ready with the Broncos, and he still doesn't appear emotionally ready. I can only assume the bad coach part is still true. Now Belichick is gonna sign a five year spite extension to screw McDaniels and complete the circle.
