Not sure why GG played Bartkowski over Kulak - I thought Kulak has been pretty effective and steady enough to keep a regular job. Makes the odd bad play, but generally plays straight-ahead "safe" hockey - something I can't say for Bart.

Eat Bread / Janko - at least I can sort of understand. Rest for one and a chance to watch, and a chance to play for the other, both being of similar-enough ability/quality.

Missed quite a bit of the first part of the game as we had guests for dinner, but caught most of the end of the 2nd on - thought the Flames supported the puck decently and managed to recover from a couple of really boneheaded plays. Liked the effort in the face of a goalie who stood on his head pretty much.

JG was awesome. Obviously feeling it right now! Loved to see Fro and Staj get goals - they've both worked hard and I'm pretty sure Fro feels badly (still) about that goal the other night. Staj and crew have deserved some ice time as have been super-defensively responsible, so nice to see them get rewarded. The old guy still has enough "it" to be out there.

I've been noticing a pattern, I'm away for work a lot throughout the year. When I'm out of town, we've only lost 5 times this year, every other loss I've been home for. I've spent more time on the road than at home since October. I am the worst

Nice to win, Flames played great, but boy was this thread a train wreck.

Have to wonder if some people even have fun following the Flames, and if it is fun for them, I can’t imagine how they act when they’re doing something they don’t enjoy.

At 23 years, 115 days old, #Flames Sean Monahan is the youngest player in NHL history with 10 career OT goals.

I thought the team as a whole played well. They have been playing well enough, even through the "losing" sreak, to have won them all. I was getting frustrated for Monahan as he easily had 5 high scoring chances right in the middle of the home run plate. Teams can go a whole game and not get those quality chances from there, so I am glad he got that game winner.

That was a fun game to watch and a huge 2 points.

Had the sound off while watching the game and just watched DTMTS - was a bit surprised Ball was doing the PbP...who was that on colour?

I like it but the stat is kind of skewed toward todays players. With the newly adopted 3on3 vs the old style of OT.

Great job though Sean.

oh boy, based on the PGT thread, you'd though calgary had lost...

Calgary is an imperfect team; Fans criticizing the personnel should know this...I mean, Monahan, for example, isn't a true #1? Then why do people expect them to play like one game in and game out...

Based on points, Calgary right where most thought they'd be, fighting for a WC or third in the pacific... the totally unexpected emergence of VGK is the one development that has put them behind a little further in the standings.

Monahan's 27 career GWGs (in 370 games) is now tied with Gary Roberts for 5th all-time in Calgary. He has played 215 fewer games as a Flame than Roberts.

Only Iginla, Fleury, Nieuwendyk, and Mullen are ahead of him (Mullen had 33 GWG in only 345 games played with the Flames -- none of them were in OT).

You could see the Flames were playing mad, especially after going down a goal a second time. Like to see emotion from this group, especially if it focuses them.

The top 6 dominated last night, Monahan could have had 4 goals. Even Lazar looked dangerous at times. Bart is bad a hockey, I would rather have Wotherspoon as a 7th dman than him. Hopefully they go on a bit of a tear, if 3rd place/8th place keeps the same winning percentage that they currently are on, 96 or 97 points (depending on who wins the tiebreaker) is what will be needed to make the playoffs, which for the Flames means a 18-11-1 finish.

I've said it before many times. Monahan is criminally underrated by a lot of Flames fans.

There are 3, maybe 4 elite center men in the NHL. Not every NHL team has the luxury of having an elite center man. Just because he's not elite, doesn't mean he, along with his teammates, can't come together and win a championship.

It is kinda sad how the overall posting standard at CP has deteriorated over the past year or so.
  • We win a game - PGT thread is full of negativity, ummmm we won??
  • How this season is so disappointing - we are currently 3rd in the division
  • The GM has made bad moves etc etc- no GM is going to bat 100%, he has to make calculated risk / reward moves. I pretty sure many fanbases wished they had Treliving or someone of his quality at the helm (VCR, Edm, NYI etc)

Don't get me wrong, many quality posters here with good insight for the game. Unfortunately, more and more they get drowned out by extremely negative posters whose lack of insight / negative bias make these threads difficult to read / participate in.

Yes, I am calling out some previously mentioned posters in this thread, set some realistic expectations, and check the extreme negativity at the door.

CP has always welcome sound debate, bring some insight, an open mind and share your opinions good or bad with substance.

I am tired of some of the garbage I read on here, I am sure I am not alone.

Peace out, flame away.

I think if you have a 7th defenseman you have to rotate him in so you're not hooped with an extended injury.

Unless you don't trust your 7th dman at all.

If that's the case he wouldn't be the man if there was an injury, they'd call up Wotherspoon.

So if I'm the Flames he doesn't play again, and strongly consider swapping him down for Wotherspoon now.

(only side issue is dressing room presence which we saw with the Freddie Hamilton thing as well)

Good resiliency!
- Time to waive Bart. Anderson is 100 times better
- get Janko back in. Mange didn't do anything
- get Rittich a start soon here
- 3M looked great

Now I can go back and watch the Tampa game and not go insane.
