The point is that it was actually a very good attempt. Especially given what he had as far as options. Shooting it wasn't a great option there.

Bad breakouts definitely held the Flames back in the 1st.

Of course this is the next logical step to this skid, being shut out by a terrible goalie playing out if his mind. Arizona better win against LA.

I’m still trying to get my head around Kulak out and Bartkowski, in when Brodie has been a ####ing #### show for much of this season. Then you look at Jankowski out and Bennett, Brouwer, Stajan, Lazar still in the line up? Gulutzan is an idiot and there is no defense for these moves. This team is where it is because of the guy behind the bench. Utilization sucks. Period.

Feb 3rd - vs. Blackhawks
1st Period thought:
- Refs have decided they aren’t calling penalties this game. Both teams got away with blatant stick infractions
- Monahan may never score again
- The Flames may never score again
- Frolik still dealing with rust from his time out of the line-up
- Bennett, Brouwer and Eatbread had a decent period
- Lazar putting in another solid night of work. Is tonight the night?

Meh...the 'Hawks would just cough up a SHG, anyway. They are something like 2 of their last 30 on the PP.

Exactly, with hindsight you can always say do something else. Kane took a shot on a 3 on 1. Shoulda deked

Good period. Started kind of rocky but I guess the coach must have made some adjustments because they got better and were attacking the high danger areas. Lots of pressure on the "home plate" area, Glass was just spectacular. Keep up that pressure and they should generate a couple goals.

Hawks were the better team overall in that period, but the Flames finally started to push during the last 5 minutes. They'd better find their mojo in the 2nd, because if the Hawks go up 2-0, you can pretty much call it a night.

Hardly worth playing the whole game anymore.
So many have the outcome figured out after the first period.
Lastly, should the Flames pull Smith?

It probably won't happen because Yotes are flat out garbage, but you have to hope for that. Flames will need all the help they can get.

Gio is the anti-Bennett. Bennett breathes on a guy who falls and he's in the box. Gio plays a very close to the edge game.

Flames have generated some chances by grinding puck down low and taking to net which is good. However they are very rough out of their end and into neutral zone. Very little flow to the attack.
CHI has been able to carry puck in a lot getting good zone time and CGY needs to do that.
Breakout cleaner, hit guys in stride and use the middle of the ice. Get some chances off the rush by using speed through neutral zone.

We make every goalie look like this. I think this is one of those games where we need to put everything at the net. Shoot, shoot, shoot and a juicy rebound will happen. Monahan is so bad lately it's not funny anymore. Something happened to him a while back, I don't know what. He's had sooo many chances in the last 10 or so games and can't finish. We need him to get his sniping skills back right away.

That’s a good power play compared to the Flames!
