I am wondering that if he did mention it, it may have crept into their thoughts as they started the 3rd. Big if, obviously, we don’t know what was said in that locker room, but man, I would love to know what he has in the trick bag for motivational speeches that aren’t train beers or histrionic stick throws.

This team's identity is the 'find a way (to lose) Flames' until further notice.
That is, until they start proving otherwise.

Yup. We should fire this coach and hire whatever coach was closing out games.

Lou on the Post Game Show:
The last two games, the Flames played better than some of the games during the 7 game win streak. I take that effort every night and roll the dice. But at the end of it you have to win games, and right now this team is finding ways to lose.

I would both disagree, and say if that were true it still wouldn’t be saying much.

I ask those who want the coaching staff fired....who replaces them that is available?
remember...Huska coaches the identical system. So nothing much changes that way if he is brought in.....so lets hear it people.
You fire a coaching staff, it has to be replaced with someone better.
Name them.

But how is that on the coach

Losing to the best teams in the league is no reason to panic. This team just isn't at that level yet, and anyone who had those expectations this season was being unrealistic.

You asked why the coaches should be at least be partially at fault tonight, and I provided an explanation. Then you mock the source because you can't refute the statement.
What do you want?

And if he pulls Smith after the 4-4 goal and Rittich lets in a softy because he is cold, he would still get ripped.
He has no shot of winning here.
And for the record, I don't believe GG is a good coach either, I just don't put anything on him tonight. Bad goaltending is a flat out game killer.

I'm baffled how anyone can disagree with this.

I think the most frustrating thing with this team, under this coaching staff is the potential is so high because they are pretty good 5v5.
But it’s the special teams and mentally fragility that bite them over and over again.
Back to back games here they outplayed the two top teams in the league for the most part, just completely dominated them at times. They have played good against other top teams like Winnipeg, Nashville, St. Louis etc as well.
But then they just frustrate the crap out of you because they find away to shoot themselves in the foot over and over again. Honestly I don’t put that all on the coach but I do feel there is something rotten in that locker room right now and a coaching change is the only quick way to see if you can fix it.

They gave up? They had almost 20 shots in the 3rd period alone. I can’t go along with your narrative on this.

That is a pretty ignorant statement. This is the NHL where any team can win any night.... no matter where you are in the "rebuild stage", you don't give up this many leads.

How many points has Smith gotten the Flames this season?
He gets a pass for a rare night off.
