Flames have won 11 of 23 games. Just elite.

The Vegas game is the first game he has lost when the team had a lead going into the third. Good things to build on.

Patience is good, but he has been an NHL head coach before. His OTJ training was supposed to be completed before he got here.

This is unacceptable and embarrassing. I don't know how the coach can continually fail to prepare his team for the third period. It's gonna be six straight losses pretty quick here and this one's gonna be a blowout.

Just fire him now and let Gelinas take over as interim.

I've had it with this idiot, he seems to be a good hockey mind but has freaking zero ability to control a game. Refusal to change anything, stupid line matching and player usage, refusal to call a timeout when the team is obviously reeling, etc.
Leaving Smith in tonight when he was looking to the bench for the pull is the final straw for me, this idiot needs to get the hell out of here.

You cannot blame tonight's game on Gulutzan. That's all on Smith. The team played their best game in a while in front of him, and he lets in softies left, right, and centre.
And the argument to pull him when you have the lead, or the last tying goal is idiotic. No coach in the history of the NHL has, or will do that.
Now, this is another loss. So it reflects on him, but this is one that the coach can't shoulder much of the blame.

I’ve defended him up until this point but think it needs to be done now.
Just completely fragile mentally. It’s not even like it’s just little mistakes or small meltdowns anymore.
It’s full on just giving the game to the other team at this point.
Personally I’m not even sure it’s his fault but you can’t change the whole team and something is rotten in that dressing room right now.

How about when we lost the lead and Smith was obviously in the weeds, was that idiotic?

That could be the time, but in a game where the opposing goalie let in 4 goals himself in 2 periods, you hope your team can rebound and get another one. One goalie and it's tied again. You usually don't pull the goalie until the point GG did. Usually you do it when you're down multiple goals, and feel the game is lost if you keep them in there.

A team with a sub .500 record on home ice, where the coach has the advantage of last change. Back to a minus team in goal differential. Zero consistency and even less composure displayed by the hockey team. Why would you want to fire Gulutzan? I know, them fancy stats are still looking good! It's not a badly coached team, they are just unlucky.

We need a jerk behind the bench. This best friend dynamic doesn't work for this group.
The complacency at key times is getting them in trouble. Many seasoned coaches wouldn't let that go unaddressed, and it would be given attention mid game.

And i think the players being paid for their veteran intangibles need to move on as well.

This team was 50-0-3 going into the 3rd with a lead. If there’s anything you can say it’s that he prepares them very well entering the 3rd. Everyone is going to be pissed tonight and rightfully so. But this game unfortunately was on our goaltending which is rare to say. Some very ugly goals tonight. 4 saves and 5 goals on 9 shots in the 3rd period. Just awful.

Gulutzen just needs to go. He's wasting the prime years and talent of the team. Guy is just not a good head coach. Might be a decent assistant coach, but definitely not head coach material. I hope Treliving realizes this and cuts bait in the summer.

Vet coaches who are available
Therrien
Bylsma
Sutter
Leaving Tippett out as he was in a power struggle with Maloney in Arizona. If GMBT and Maloney are tight, can’t see him coming.

I think if you're changing coaches now just let an assistant do it till the end of the season. Lots of candidates will be available in summer.

Don’t forget 0-7 vs the Oilers!
Gonna be a long last 30 games cuz Treliving is gonna fall on his sword on this hire. Shame
