What a bizarre trade for the Redskins. They should have gone full tank next year to get a QB, now they'll be good enough to not be in position to draft one. Obviously the Chiefs believe in Mahomes or they wouldn't have traded up for him in the first place. Mahomes to Tyreek on deep shots next year is going to be lethal.

Ya this is a weird deal, he had 3 elite weapons in KC and right now his best target is doctson
Don't like it for them unless they cater the offense around him, and get a few receivers

Like it a lot for KC. I've said forever with Smith they had a ceiling, mahomes may not be the guy, but the team is built to win now and Smith could get it done in January. Gotta go for it. Even if mahomes isn't the guy, he was a project pick, at least they aren't doing status quo

If cousins goes to Broncos the AFC West next year will be wild

 Cousins sweepstakes could be wild

The Browns should back up the Brink's truck, let's them then use 1 and 4 on BPA. Chubb at 1 and Barkley at 4.

Suddenly they have a very good qb, potential elite RB, and a d line with Chubb and Garrett.

Broncos have to be interested and have the cap room
 Cardinals
 Bills
 Giants or dolphins possibly
Jags are paying bortles so I think they are more focused on getting him some receivers

Vikings should do it, he's gonna cost money, he has to get more than Smith did, but I'd rather pay him than Keenum or Bradford, and maybe even bring teddy back as a backup.

Minnesota or Denver seem to be the most realistic landing spots, with Minnesota being the strong favourite should they choose to throw their hat in the ring.

Even better for KC to get him in the deal

			Bills - KeenumBroncos - Cousins
Browns - Draft (x2, just like the Redskins with RGIII/Cousins)
 Cardinals - Cutler, with draft
 Giants - Eli, with draft
 Jags - Bortles
 Jets - McCown, with draft
Vikings - Bradford, with Teddy backing up

Is there a reason the Vikings wouldnt just bring back Keenum rather than go back to Bradford who will get hurt in game 1 or 2 of the season?

Cutler wont play again.

Because Bradford's market is going to be soft/non-existent because of his injury history, so he'll be cheaper to sign, and thus less risky with guaranteed money. But when healthy he's proven to be a consistently better QB than Keenum. Better to risk it on a guy who might get hurt over a guy who might have simply had a fluke season, especially if you can keep Teddy around as insurance. And I think someone else will overpay for Keenum out of the blocks, and they won't even have a chance to sign him.

		| Thursday Night Football is changing networks once again.
The NFL announced Wednesday morning that the package would go to Fox for the next five seasons. Sources say the contract, which entitles Fox to broadcast 11 games on Thursday each season from Week 4 to Week 15, is worth an average of more than $660 million a year.

CBS paid $37.5 million per game for eight games during the 2014 and 2015 season. For the past two seasons, NBC joined CBS to broadcast five games each at a cost of $45 million each. The new deal values each game at an average of more than $60 million each.

Taking this from an ESPN article this morning but the Chiefs are gambling a bit here as Smith is a low ceiling/high floor QB and Mahomes is a high ceiling/low floor QB. Given how a lot of the Chiefs success under Reid centers around winning the turnover battle how will the team far with a QB that is likely going to turn over the ball much more than Smith who is one of the best in the league at taking care of the ball?

Yeah, but drafting Mahomes in the first place was a gamble too. At some point you have to recognize that yes Alex Smith will have you in the playoff mix every year. But at key times he just has not been able to get his team down the field on those critical 4th quarter drives that can win games. If they want to push past their current high floor/low ceiling, it's a change they have to try. If it doesn't work out...reset and try again. Smith isn't exactly young anymore either.

The Chiefs will save a lot in the salary cap by making the change. So maybe they can re-allocate some funds to find another receiver opposite Tyreek Hill, get a proper pass rusher so teams can't key entirely on Justin Houston, as well as get a proper left Tackle instead of Eric Fisher. Adding Fuller hopefully does provide them with a corner who can play opposite of Marcus Peters.

The way the Chiefs currently set up, they never were going to push past the Patriots or Steelers, and continue to be in a position to lose close games to teams like the Titans in crunch time. They had to change it up.

I have to think that the 30 years that they went between having a QB drafting by the team win a game is some sort of record. The two teams in the Superbowl this year got there with home grown QB talent...even if Philly did take a real odd way to get there with Nick Foles.

I thought Jacksonville was fait accompli for Eli...apparently not.

		| Two months ago, Eli Manning was on the sideline, his future in doubt as he watched Geno Smith start against the Oakland Raiders. Now, with a new coach and general manager, he's been told by the New York Giants that they want him to be their starter moving forward -- even if they draft a quarterback with the No. 2 overall pick.
Manning is willing to help the next Giants quarterback -- he wouldn't exactly describe his role as being a mentor -- and has every intention to finish his career with the only professional team for which he has played. But he still feels he has something to prove after receiving the ultimate vote of confidence from the team's brass over the past few weeks.

"Excited," Manning said Friday in Bloomington, Minnesota. "Excited to get back to work and knowing that they have faith in me that I can go out there and win games and play at a high level.

"I want to go prove them right. I want to go out there and work my tail off to get to playing at a high level."

Is that 10 million a guess or actual documented number? Seems really low

ESPN pays way more for MNF

NFL ad money went up this year, even when the narrative was losing viewers, all tv is losing viewers and the NFL still had something like 18 of the top 25 highest rated shows of the year

All three players were in their first year of eligibility and join Terrell Owens and Brian Dawkins as the modern-era selections to be enshrined. Those five players join longtime personnel executive Bobby Beathard (contributor) and seniors committee nominees Jerry Kramer and Robert Brazile for enshrinement.

Hard to argue any of these selections as well.

		| Los Angeles Rams duo Todd Gurley II and Aaron Donald capped off a sensational season by respectively winning the The Associated Press Offensive and Defensive Player of the Year awards.

The future is bright in The Big Easy as New Orleans Saints running back Alvin Kamara and cornerback Marshon Lattimore won the top rookie awards.

In a year featuring outstanding rookie running backs, Kamara, third-round draft pick from Tennessee, beat another third-rounder, Kansas City's Kareem Hunt, for the Offensive Rookie of the Year award.

Kamara, selected 19 spots ahead of Hunt, received 28 votes to 21 for Hunt. Houston rookie quarterback Deshaun Watson, despite playing in only seven games before a season-ending knee injury, got the other vote.
