I was actually smiling when Vegas scored the winning goal.
We've been barely scraping by lately but still getting points.
In my mind, this should jolt them enough where they gotta know in order to get the 2 points you've gotta battle the entire 60 mins. Rather have a crappy loss like that and then build it into a winning streak than keep scraping by but still getting loser points. The pain of this loss will turn into a more determined and dedicated team, at least in the short term. The problems with this team are all mental IMO.
Team played great overall, breakdown at the end cost the game. Expect this team to be flying on Thursday and I fully expect a W.

The first unit especially. They know it sucks. They know Dr. Evil (Cameron) came and took their mojo a long time ago and is going to tell them to keep drop passing to Johnny to either get stood up at the blue line or play around the perimeter until she's done.

Meh. First time in a while without points. No need to overreact. Nor was there a need to be overly jubilant a couple weeks ago.

Terrible mistakes at the end of the game, no doubt about it but this is an overreaction. Lots of hockey left including games against teams were fighting with. We’re one point out for Pete’s sake.

I was very happy with the Flames' play, power playe excluded, for 58 minutes. Right before the goal I though they were handling the lead way better than the two goal leads they had in the last few games.
It's what makes the loss even more frustrating.

Yup, end of the season.
I mean one point behind 2nd and 3rd in the division. 32 games left to play (40% of the schedule)
Sucks to get knocked out end of January like this

Our coaching staff is embarrassing, they couldn't even signal Smith on the goalie pull, he gets half way to the bench and puts his arms up in a WTF manner. Of course that is seconds before Vegas pumps in the empty netter.
Failures in the final two minutes:
-No timeout following the Frolik gaff - tying goal
-Send Frolik right back out there for the next shift
-Don't even communicate to your goaltender on the pull.
That is a lot of fail, for a two minute span...

I just wonder what the conversations we are having about a lot of players, coaches and GM if Frolik doesn't shoot at our own net. Such an awful way to lose and it draws a lot of emotions out of fans but they had that game won and I am curious to see how the team responds now.

Yes Frolik screwed up but it happens especially for a guy coming back after a long layoff. The team needs to gather itself after that and really a leader needs to step up and say "okay, that was a freak thing, let's get our #### together as we still have a game to win".
How they just stood and watched on the very next shift is the really concerning part. It's like they already lost the game.

What I think is lost here, the Las Vegas player on the tying goal. Why was he busting to the net? Frolik never telegraphed that pass, it was hard and quickly off his tape. Did Las Vegas pick up on something? I know when I'm playing hockey and the opponent has it at their own blue line, I'm not busting to the net for a rebound.
I don't blame Frolik for the decision to pass it back, that's not uncommon when killing time or under pressure. I do think hes responsible for missing the mark onto Brodie's backhand. Smith was the 3rd part of the chain and thus the delayed and reactionary kick save rebound, not much he can do on that.
Frolik admitted to a bad pass but not the decision to throw it back. With the Vegas player busting to the net, I wonder if that's a set play they picked up on, that they pass it back to the D-man. Either way that is infuriating.
We need to stop coddling these guys. The soft media not calling out the PP, the players lacking the killer instinct that has been getting attention lately. I even see it in the fans trying to spin a 5 game losing streak into a positive. I get you can't get down on things all the time, but a spade is a spade. Unless they get held accountable, it's not going to change. They need to be challenged and change their culture and ways. That's definitely on the coach and his staff.

I just don't get this.
Frolik is one of the most dependable wingers on the team, hell the whole league. If you want to bank on a guy that will be money in helping respond to a gaff he's the guy.
The line itself is the league's second best possession line and had scored the go head goal late in the second.
Leaving them out there wasn't a bush league coach move, it was hockey. It happens. A series of bad bounces and occurrences and the game blew up.
Don't over think this people.

Hmm that makes me wonder, we were playing Vegas and Frolik fires a puck towards the net that eventually ends up in the net?
Say it ain't so Michael say it ain't so

Frolik was visibly shaken up after his gaffe. The coach should have recognized that he needed a break to regroup mentally. The third line had a solid game and would have been an option to respond with.

Boomer comes to work to basically just shoot the #### with his two buddies and when they finally do get their 3 minutes of sports discussion in, it’s because they have other people doing it like Friedman or that guy who is on twice a week talking about ####ing baseball non-stop. Even in winter. In baseball offseason, Rogers won’t let us off the GD hook. Holy crap, we get it, we have to be indoctrinated to like the Blue Jays. Worst is right after a Flames game, and Brunt is on talking about nothing to do with hockey or Calgary. It’s so frequent.
I listen everyday because those rare times you actually do hear them talk about the Flames, and I would literally put that at like 3-5% of the time, they are truly fantastic. But at what time of morning does this usually occur? Whenever I listen it’s always blue jays or the Pinder report which is average, then followed by like 15 minutes of commercials. Sorry this is ranting now but I was just thinking today how actually bad the show is. I guess I should stop listening.
Drives me nuts how after a Flames game you can’t hear them talk about the team the next morning. I almost never can, maybe it’s just my time of day but man it’s annoying.

Because planning a radio show segment by segment with informed opinions to make it coherent takes work.
Shuffling in to talk nonsense with three other dudes however takes literally no work. It's just a lazy radio show plain and simple, blows my mind how some people like it.
