Not to rub salt in our wounds, but the Avs have stormed back to take a 3-2 lead over the Nucks after being down 2-0 in the 1st.

Flames played excellent for 58 minutes and were 2 minutes away from winning the f'n game, and then they just completely unraveled after Frolik's brain fart. Such a mentally fragile team. So disappointing after playing such a great game for the most part.

We probably would have at least gotten a point out of this game if not for the atrocious PP once again, going 0/3 tonight. If they don't get this fixed, this team won't even get a sniff of the playoffs. It's embarrassing.

that was the most ridiculous collapse i've seen since the 5-0 game against chicago with the old core. i'm getting the feeling that it's not their season, if only they hadn't traded the first away

It's really bad when you're constantly inundated with comments like "they played a good game," "We played the right way but we didn't get the bounces"

Bottom line, you're obviously not playing well enough to contend for a playoff spot let alone contend for the cup.
To me this is BS, the season isn't lost until you're either eliminated from the playoffs or your in the final handshake after you lose a playoff series.

I don't feel positive about this game because of the way they lost. But the season is far from lost.

Flames have a real hard time winning when the first line isn’t dominant. Which is a real problem because although I think we have a good first line, it’s not Trottier/Bossy/Gillies.

Spending all those assets on a #4 defenseman. IDK if that was the way to go.

Brain dead coaching 101, PERIOD. There is no excuse for this. Gully needs to get in front of the cameras and blame himself. But he won't he'll be a chicken #### coward.
Frolik was playing well all game and is usually defensively responsible

Agreed. Late in the game, Brodie needs to sacrifice his body and block that shot. Don't know what he was thinking

I am really starting to wonder about GG and staff. I was a huge supporter, but this Flames team just has zero killer instinct. 5 games in a row we let a one goal lead turn into a loss. This one hurts.
Safe to say his in game management is approaching all time worst. Never seen a coach that has so little awareness of what’s going on with his team during games.

I just don't understand what the hell Frolik was even thinking... the first thing they teach you in novice hockey is don't do exactly what he did. Makes absolutely no sense whatsoever. Argggghhh still fuming.

A PP goal or time out or GG monitoring froliks time like he said before the game would have been the difference. This team is mentally weak because their coaching staff has the situational awareness of a herd of cows.

Even Lou noticed something was up in the last 5 minutes...use a teaching moment, calm the team and walk away with points...instead same old issues not addressed.

That's got to be one of the costliest brain farts in regular season Flame's history. Frolik took us from 60 something percent chance of playoffs to 30s. Basically cut our playoff odds in half with one unnecessary, and unforgivable play. Let down the whole team, who worked pretty hard to control the third period.

Team is still very young and doesn't understand that even the smallest of mistakes end up in the back of the net.
The veterans that pass along this message are supposed to be Brouwer and Stajan but my dad is better than them. Engelland was a great presence for this, I am sure he is doing wonders for Vegas.
Its a game of inches and each one must be meticulously calculated and executed masterfully to truly be a successful team in the best league in the world. The learning is still happening and that learning will continue for some time until these guys get into their late 20s methinks.
Not gunna get worked up anymore. Like Trudeau, they're just not ready.

Oilers still suck and aren't making the playoffs. Go back to your ####hole board.

Good point, but if one player doesn't make a terribly lazy play, did that coaching make a difference. These guys are professionals and it's pointless to continue blaming coaches for guys who don't put in the effort required to win. I bet Frolik's pass to Smith with a man in front is not part of the Flames system.

If something as ridiculous and back-breaking as this had to happen, I'm glad it happened when there are still 32 games left to play.

If this happened in a tight race in the final 2 weeks of the season, a team may not recover.

Trade Backlund and go all in on Tavares.

NSFW!

Absolute hilarious ending. Can't help but lol. I'm not even upset. Just amazed they found a way to:

-not score a PP goal
-lose the game in 43 seconds

You can't fight witchcraft magic. The VGK have that right now.

Gonna be some great ATL reports for other teams in this thread and on CP the next couple days. I can feel it.
