He's a bonafide top 6er at 20 and as Francis mentioned is edging on star status really quickly with the production, down low play, grit and ability to draw penalties (you can add in his reputation as well). His trajectory is pretty exciting to consider.

The kids I don't care about, but so far tonight every adult I've seen in a Knights jersey looks like a frat bro who isn't a hardcore fan. It just reeks of trying to be hip and looking for attention.

I think we're overrating on-ice performance here.
Brouwer's 32, he's seen a lot of stuff in this league, has won a Stanley Cup, and from all indications, he seems to be a great guy. Tkachuk has a lot to prove still in this league and is still just a kid playing in his second season.
Brouwer has also significantly improved recently, and while he may be overpaid, he's still an effective bottom-nine forward.

17 (current goals) divided by 48 (current games played) times 80 (max number of games he can play this season).
About a 28 goal pace right now.
