PP is the difference maker and not in the 1st.

EDIT Backlund just rushed puck through middle and set up good chance

Backlund rush aside, absolutely this. Moving up the middle of the ice is risky - so the Flames tend to drive it wide. It results in poor quality shots, albeit a decent quantity of them. It’s one of the big reasons why we struggle to score despite solid efforts. It’s playing hard, dumb hockey.

It's like watching officiating for the 2016-17 Oilers.
We've seen holding, holding the stick, obvious hooks... yep, nope.

Pretty good start ruined by another ridiculously stupid penalty by Bennett. This kid just doesn’t get it. Good for ten games, useless for 25, repeat cycle. Hs’s extremely close to busy territory in my mind.

Yes ive been watching. The endless amount of turnovers and zero give a sh*t from the flames. They dont skate and dont generate any offence. It can be hard to watch at times. Hoprefully the 2nd they wake up

It was the difference maker in the 4 games prior. I'm not sure why we should expect anything different.

Maybe if Johnny fell down and held his head he would’ve got the call
Vegas gets every single break this year, not surprised how this first period went

The opponent also only has to defend one side of the ice when Calgary shovels it up the boards. Easy to defend those perimeter shots.

Should have a full practice dedicated to odd man rushes and shooting this week. Help these boys to make hay on their opportunities more.

Outplaying them but losing the special teams battle. This script is getting old.

It was an awful call. Bennett just stood there.

I thought our PP looked as dangerous tonight as it has all season despite not scoring. Two minutes of continuous pressure in Vegas’s end.

Monahan needs to grow his game IMO. You rarely see him get the puck in his end and skate it through the middle. This team needs to be able to bring the puck down the middle lane, especially the first line.

Seems like a 1st period we have seen for the 4th straight game. Played well, worked hard no goals

Solid period by the Flames despite the goal against. Hopefully they can find their offence in the 2nd.
