this line got me.
He said “real water” should expire after a few months. “If it sits around too long, it’ll turn green. People don’t even realize that because all their water’s dead, so they never see it turn green.”

When I was a kid my brother and I drank some raw water fresh from the irrigation canal near the canoe club. Man I was thirsty and it tasted so good. I still to this day remember how sick we were the following days.

I'm pretty sure 'Raw Water' is what made The Oregon Trail such a hard game.
That being said, we in North America and Calgary specifically, have some of the best water available but I'm all aboard the Raw Water fad, it might get us some Darwinian Natural Selection.
"He died of Dysentery."
Its the year 2018, how did he even contract dysentery?
"Raw Water and then his Naturopath couldnt cure it with homeopathic remedies."
I see.

An old family friend of mine used to take us to artesian wells in Manitoba. She'd bring 4-5 of these 5 gallon pails, load up and go home. In her defense, that water definitely tasted better than Winnipeg water. This must have been around 20 ish years ago.
She'd use the water for cooking and rarely consumed it without boiling. She'd claim that it wasn't safe to consume the water ("raw" I guess?) in quantities more than a few mouthfuls in general, nor more than a few hours after the water was taken from the well.
As for "raw water", years ago, on occasion when I go to the ink pots at Johnston Canyon, I will fill a bottle and consume some on my way down. I guess my gut is strong, because I'd consume half a Nalgene bottle with no effect. Many friends often remarked I was lucky I had not contracted something from drinking that water. Once time when doing that same "hike", a friend saw me drink the water and filled a plastic bottle in the same spot I did. Within a few sips, he had to rush into the brush to dispel all things from his bowels into the brush. I haven't consumed raw water since.
As previously mentioned, water has only been safe to consume within around the last hundred years (North America), and this isn't even true in many parts of the world. People used to die from bad water all the time. I've often believed it's often why many cultures believe alcohol in moderation is a health drink. Beer, spirits, wine, whatever essentially decontaminates dirty water and made it safer to consume long before we understood what parasites and germs were.

This is very true actually. When people were moving from Rural areas into Urban areas the same water used for drinking was also used for dumping and waste, so alcohol was safer to drink than water.

30+ years ago when I was 18 I did a survival weekend that was part of a summer youth emlpoyment thing. We were shown how to build a signal fire, lean-to, etc and then driven out into the woods and dropped off in groups of three or four. The next day they picked us up and fed us at a camp in the woods. Well the water they used was 'raw' so they boiled it to make OJ and what ever else they used it for. There was no fresh or cold water to drink and everybody was thirsty not having anything to drink for the last day.
Somebody asked if we could drink the water cold(before boiling it) and one of the instructors said "I Have and I'm fine" so a few of us did.
I got hep A. Worst I've ever been sick. Great weight loss plan though! I was already a skinny teenager at 6' 150 lbs and dropped to about 125lbs.
Moral of the story...market it as a weight loss diet! You'll be rich.

Wasn't there a trend for a while where people were paying to get a tape worm?
Anyways.
PT Barnum once said there's a sucker born every minute. I think most of them are adherents to voodoo health and miracle cures.
